Braxton Hicks in third pregnancies

Ok, I know that everything is worse in subsequent pregnancies. I've been having BH for a few weeks now, on and off, but over the last few days they've been much more frequent, much more uncomfortable and I can feel them in my back, like period pains. I can't decide whether this is just third pregnancy joys, or something I ought to ring my mw about asap - can anyone who's had 3+ pregnancies advise?

not had 3+ -- but how many weeks are you ...are they regular and in a pattern??

spooksRus · 22/10/2006 08:06

how far on are you?

Sorry - 31 weeks. I don't know if they're regular - too busy and distracted with two toddlers to work it out!

well....if 31 weeks....it's probably braxtons...especially if you are getting on with things and able to ignore them!!!

in my 2nd pregnancy , my BH were soooo strong...3 false alarms of strong & regular contractions....but baby didn;t arrive until 40 weeks...

backache will be a combination of pregnancy, BH and lifting 2 toddlers i would think....

keep an eye..if you can..if become stronger, regular and don't ease off...give the midwife a call!!

I'd never really had them before our third and they were much more noticeable - but I'd still check with the mw.

hiya, am in a similar situation to you on 3rd pregnancy, and have a3 and a 5 yr old, have been having a lot of pains in my lower back like period pain and also a lot of stomach cramps, that i keep thinking is the real thing then they stop!! think it may just be that muscles and everything are weaker 3rd time round so you feel more?? If you are at all worried i would speak to your midwife asap, thats what she gets paid for!! take care and hope all is well!! xx

In my 3rd pregnancy the BH's were much earlier and much stronger. They felt just like real labour pains but if there is any doubt at all then call your MW.

I'm in my fourth pregnancy. I get loads of BH. This time from really early on in the pregnancy too.
When I was over doing things last week the BH came really strong (I'm 20 wks) and didn't seem to be subsiding and I had back ache and I knew I had to stop and sit. Then it all calmed down.
In late pregnancy I get them loads really strongly but when labour actually starts for me it feels clearly different.
I would run it by the mw to put your mind at ease.

Hi TBBM

I'm just a couple of weeks ahead of you and on my third pregnancy. I'm noticing these braxton hicks alot more too. I don't think they are anything to worry about unless you have other symptoms, and they become regular.
Can you ask your MW at your next check up?

Hope you're okay.
