Can you lose waters before plug?

I'm 37 weeks and sure I felt a trickle last night but haven't lost any plug yet, I've been wearing pant liners for weeks due to excess moisture so I couldn't have missed it and always check the tissue after a wee.

With my first they were burst manually by the mw during labour so I have no experience of a trickle and not even sure if any could come out with the plug intact.

I didn't ever notice losing my plug in my first pg. If you're leaking give your MW a call!

In theory no, but my waters went with such force that my plug didn't come away until a couple of hours later (and it was huge! Yuck!).

Oh, and yes, if you're trickling I'd call your midwife as you don't want an infection getting in.

WishUponAStar88 · 08/02/2015 20:00

My waters broke spontaneously but I never noticed my plug being lost. I agree that you must call the midwives on your maternity unit if your waters may have broken.

Yes! My waters went and I only saw the plug as I was pushing to deliver the head.

My waters went before my plug with number 3. Number 1 waters went then plug (right after waters).

My waters went spontaneously, never saw the plug.

You must go and get examined to see if they have gone. At risk of infection if they have and you're left too long.

I never had a plug either. I think everyone's waters are different. Mine felt like I was wetting myself and lasted for at least 40 mins. Call the triage at the hospital they might want to check you over.

Dogsmom · 08/02/2015 20:41

It was only a tiny bit, I was lay on my side and over about 10 minutes it felt like a little bit of water dripping 3x, I can't even be sure it wasn't air, my pant liner wasn't wetter than usual and I haven't felt any more for the last 24 hours.

It just got me wondering if it was even possible with the plug in place, I've got a presentation scan first thing on Tuesday morning so will get them to have a look.

I never saw a plug at all. My waters went at 37 + 1 - I thought I had wet the bed! And then the back waters went just as I got to the hospital to be assessed. Cue lots of weird looks as I walked through the hospital with soaking wet trousers.
