Being induced on Wednesday I have a bag packed but I am wondering if I should pack extra because I'm being induced Confused

Ooh good luck and congratulations! I packed a bag for me and one for dh and barely used any of it this time!
Outfit to labour in (pants and vest)
Outfit for baby, nappies and wipes
Snacks and drinks
Few pairs of pants, mat pads
Face wash, body wash and moisturiser
Change of clothes to go home in

Pack a bag to have at home or in car with extra clothes for you and baby and more nappies, wipes and pads. You don't want to take loads and loads in.

Maybe a magazine or ipad if you're being induced.
Phone charger!

Thankyou sparkly I think it's just last minute flapping lol :) I will pack an extra bag that DH can bring in if I need it :)

Bit different as we were in and out in 6 hours so really didn't need much but even the first time when we were in a lot longer, really didn't need all the things people suggested.
Maybe toothbrush and few toiletries? I was so knacks red I didn't care! I guess if you're in for longer you could do with more but again I'd leave the second bag in the car to bring in later.
How exciting! Hope it goes really well for you Thanks

My MLU asks us to bring bedding for the baby's cot, they said that the bedding provided is disposable and not kind on baby's skin.
Also I have been advised to bring towels for me and baby.
But I am a first timer so don't know how necessary these things are!!

SparklyReindeerShit · 08/02/2015 13:54

Oh yes Emily, a towel! I took one. They had loads there but was nice after a shower to have my own (even though I made a mess of it!)

Definitely pack snacks and pop/juice. I was sooo thirsty and hungry afterwards, the tea and toast didn't even touch the sides (this might just be me being a greedy guts though)

Thanks guys :) I was induced with DS but it wasn't planned so I am feeling a bit clueless this time I have packed blankets for baby but not a towel I have got a couple for me though. What kind of snacks would you guys take?

Definitely take nibbles and some bottled water. I ended up having a manual removal of placenta in theatre, missed the hospital evening meal and was starving, luckily DH tucked a mars bar next to me in bed before he went home Grin as I'd had a spinal so couldn't move my legs to get to the bag. It was deliciously slightly melted when I woke up. Cereal bars would also have been good, but a sweet snack really perked me up.

Make sure DP/DH knows where the extra supplies are at home of baby stuff and your stuff so if you need more he brings in the right things.

  • book/magazines (just in case you're kept in)
  • cotton wool for baby cleaning and/or wet wipes
  • dry shampoo, not essential but I love having a can to just spritz up my hair
  • small mirror and a bit of make up, again not essential but I like a bit of foundation and mascara on before going home (especially if house full of visitors!)
  • Bags to put dirty/wet clothes in.
  • Don't forget your notes :)
SparklyReindeerShit · 08/02/2015 22:13

I had some sweets to perk me up a bit as I was knackered! Probably not the best but I couldn't have faced nits or anything healthy.
Also, I looked in the mirror at one point and was horrified by how far down my face my mascara had run. Wish I'd just bloody not bothered!
Don't know about anyone else but I was definitely bothered about the state of my face/hairy legs/fanjo etc!!

Kurololi · 08/02/2015 22:20

I took some flapjacky/granola bar type things. Filled a hole and lots of sugar for energy!

Kurololi · 08/02/2015 22:21

Oh and somehow I forgot a hat for DS so don't forget that!

WhyAspoonCousin · 08/02/2015 23:34

I packed my waterproof kindle cover for if I wanted to go in the birthing pool, most misjudged luggage item ever. You will not need one.

Babytinx11 · 08/02/2015 23:53

Thank you guys a few bits I need to add :) going shopping tomorrow so I will grab snacks and sweets then :) hadn't thought about make up but it would be nice not to go home looking rough so that will be going in :)

I was sick when in induced labour, might just be coincidence it was induced as I was sick a fair bit in pregnancy, I'd suggest you take a spare set of labour clothes, maybe?
