sounds like a ridiculous question, but thing is Ive had SMs since the age of 11 or 12 and Im now 31 so theyve long faded to silvery scratches. They cover my boobs, bum, lower back and thighs. So Im prepared to wave goodbye to almost the only unmarked part of me, my belly, as it seems to be a foregone conclusion I will get them despite my best efforts BUT will I get another set on my boobs and hips etc? Can you get new ones ontop of old ones? I guess this goes out to ladies who've dropped a few sprogs Xx

I don't think you can. I got the most horrendous stretchmarks with my first pregnancy - livid, red stripes all over my bump. With ds2 I didn't get any - and I think it was just because I had no 'unmarked' skin for them to go on; it was 'stretched' already. And the original ones had faded to silvery/grey marks by then so I would easily have seen new ones.

Ach, who wants to wear a bikini anyway?

I got lots of stretch marks under my bump with my first, that had long since faded to silvery lines, now I am 35 weeks and I have in the last month or so found that my old ones have grown, they are all silver and then turn to red on the ends where the new bit has stretched up! Not sure I have stretch marks on my stretch marks, but this pregnancy has definitely made them worse!

Sorry to say that you can. In general you get stretchmarks in the first pg (it's related to being fat or to genetics), but not in subseqent pgs. This is exactly what happened to me with babies nos1 and 2. However, I've just had a whopper of a baby no3, and I suppose my bump must have been even bigger (and definitely heavier) than before, because my stretchmarks have extened further up. The old ones are silvery, with an extra pink inch or so at the top. No new ones among the old ones, though.

I've also got some on my boobs, don't know when they appeared as I don't recall then ever being livid, but they are deffo pre-babies. I haven't had any new ones there, though, despite pgs and bfing.

i can vouch that you most definitely can. I thought my tummy could look no worse after dd but sure enough with ds new huge red ravines appeared

I had stretchmarks on hips and thighs from being a teenager, but didn't get anymore 'over' them when pregnant. I think if you have had them before you will probably get them again, but I only had underbump marks so still wear a bikini. Actually I would prob still wear a bikini with more extensive stretch marks.

great. well at least this time I will have something to show for them unlike when i was younger and got covered in them but for no apparent reason. I suppose its another thing to thank my mum for, that along with varocoise veins, which I had stripped at 29 cos they were so bad, and dark circles round my eyes. All thats left for me is piles and then arthiritis. One of which will be coming sooner than the other methinks.
