Hi all,

This is my first pregnancy and so far all scans and check ups have been absolutely fine but I've been feeling really paranoid about my babies movements recently. Granted this could be first time mum paranoia but every day/every other day she moves in a way that is very jerky/sudden/twitchy, almost like she is having a fit, and this can continue for 5 minutes or so. It's making me worry there is something wrong with her! Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Should I be worried? Have mentioned it to my midwife before and she wasn't able to offer any reassurance or give me any answers.

If you are worried, call the antenatal unit. It sounds normal to me, but I'm not an expert. To be honest, I think you'd be better calling the antenatal unit that asking on a forum - don't mean to be rude, just don't think you should take any chances if you are worried for any reason.

Speak to your midwife if you're at all concerned but my first thought is - hiccups!

or it could be hiccups, some babies get it a lot. mine does every couple of days I think (40+1, dc3)
feels like s regular jerky movement for a few minutes, look it up, see if this sounds like what you are feeling.

Hiccups felt like hiccups to me - regular little jerks, nothing dramatic like the OP seems to be describing. I would speak to your midwife.

I have been getting this too. I find it a bit worrying too but haven't mentioned it to midwife. I find changing my position seems to settle her down so have assumed that my position is annoying her. I hope that's what it is!!
