I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Littlemiss20 Really sorry to hear of re-admission and spotting worry.
I think a lot of people do have spotting, and I think it only becomes a worry when it's bright red and quite a lot of blood, but I'm not medically qualified. It might be worth phoning up for advice just in case. Surely you must have been back in hospital less than a week after being discharged, poor you? Did you say you were on stemitil before? Have they got you on Ondansetron?

Littlemiss20 · 15/03/2015 17:16

Thanks lucindaE I was out 2 days but really didn't cope I was just on the cyclizine so I now have stemitil and ranitidine if needed. Still feeling sick but only been sick a few times so much better.
Hopefully things will stay like that. I think your right about the spotting if it happens again Il give them a call. Still getting high ketones when I check but I think this will be an ongoing issue for me.

elizabethsmum · 15/03/2015 19:51

littlemiss sorry you're still suffering. spotting is fairly common in early pregnancy but definitely worth getting it checked out. Hopefully it will soon settle. have you had any pain? the one good thing about hg I suppose is that it is a fairly reassuring symptom that all is well xx

Littlemiss20 · 15/03/2015 20:13

Thanks Elizabethsmum i have the odd twinge but nothing significant that lasts any length of time. I may call GP tomorrow just to reassurance. Although they are not very helpful generally, puts you off calling them.

elizabethsmum · 15/03/2015 20:49

are your local early pregnancy unit any better little miss? just thinking as you had already been an in - patient might be quicker to ring them for advice?? (although then again they might tell you to contact gp I guess!), some units will take self-referral x

eallison88 · 15/03/2015 21:08

New low of wetting myself whilst vomiting. Level achieved. I know it's not uncommon, but I do feel particularly classy right now...

MeerkaRIPSirTerry · 15/03/2015 21:18

ealli, if you're upchucking over a bowl or the loo, kneel down. Rest yoru crotch on your ankle with your heel or back of ankle against where you pee. The pressure from your ankle helps stop accidents.

Hope it's going okay littlemiss

eallison88 · 15/03/2015 21:39

That's what I usually do. The whole thing took me by surprise, I actually went to the loo to have a wee, but as I got to the bathroom I had a sudden urge to hurl didn't quite manage to position myself as I normally do. I'm normally so good at position that hubby says he likes going to the loo after I've had a session, cos the floor by the loo is "lovely and warm"... I'm glad I have my uses!

Littlemiss20 · 16/03/2015 08:22

I spoke to my triage unit and they were very helpful and told me that i wasn't to worry and if it happens again, or was red blood then just go in. Thanks for your advice , much more helpful than the GPS x

eallison88 · 16/03/2015 09:36

glad they were reassuring littlemiss. I had a bit if spotting early on that turned out to be nothing.

I've got my 12 week scan today (though 12+4). Very nervous. Terrified that they're gonna find an mmc. If not, worried that they're gonna put my dates back a bit. I know it doesn't matter, but I'm steadily working through a day at a time, and the thought of them saying that actually I've got another x days to do makes me want to cry. Alternatively, though, if they move me on a few days, that'd be a bonus!

Littlemiss20 · 16/03/2015 10:05

Aww hope all goes well ealison, let us know how it goes. Very exciting!! X

Littlemiss20 · 16/03/2015 10:07

Try not to worry, I know I wll be the same but I'm sure all will be good and you never know may get moved fowardSmile x

MeerkaRIPSirTerry · 16/03/2015 11:17

oh ealli good luck!

sounds like the spotting isn't anything to worry about littlemiss, must be reassuring =)

LucindaE · 16/03/2015 13:52

Good luckeallison. You almost certainly won't need it. LittleMiss I am so glad it's gone off. Unnerving. Meerka great advice about advoiding wetting yourself - I've made people laugh on here, which is a good thing, before now, by saying I was so given to wetting myself that I used to whip off my knickers as the heaving started...

Amazing! We have one very wriggly and bouncy baby who was not playing with the sonographer! the only time it stayed still was at the beginning when they (had a trainee - woo, bonus time seeing baby!) took a pic. When they tried to do all the measurements he kept turning round. I spent most of the 25 minutes tilted back with my feet in the air!

No one can prepare you for how amazing it is to see your baby dancing! I'm convinced it knew I needed plenty of reassurance so it played silly buggers to make it all last longer! Big grin on my face Grin

elizabethsmum · 16/03/2015 20:04

glad all went well with the scan eallison- it honestly does make it all worthwhile! ! I spend my life chasing wriggly babies round on scans!!

Littlemiss20 · 16/03/2015 20:08

That's great to hear ealison very active baby! Bet you feel relieved to get that reassuranceSmile.

I can't wait for my scan! Not getting it until I'm 13 weeks and 4 days. Seems like forever! X

MeerkaRIPSirTerry · 16/03/2015 21:17

oh lovely to hear ealli! :) fab news.

LucindaE · 17/03/2015 09:08

eallison Aah, that is such happy news, eallison. You needed that boost.
Littlemiss20 That doesn't seem fair. How are you now? I can't believe they still had you only on cyclazine after your last but one admission.
Waves to all.

Littlemiss20 · 17/03/2015 09:17

Ano it's so long to wait, not sure why I was given that date!
I'm now 10 weeks. spoke to my work I'm due back next Thursday for 3 nightshifts so fingers crossed I'm feeling better.
How did everyone else find getting back to work? X

dillydollydarling · 17/03/2015 17:04

Hope everyone is surviving today Smile

I haven't posted in a while but have been keeping up with what's going on. I'm now 16+2 and feeling so much better. Still feel a little sick occasionally and still can't eat much in one go but I'm getting there! I stopped taking my tablets as the headaches were unbearable and, fingers crossed, haven't been sick!

Still tired all the time but I am managing to work 4 days a week. Going to be doing 5 days next week so we will see how that goes!

Had my 16 week midwife appointment today, and all is well. Even got to hear spud's heartbeat

eallison88 · 17/03/2015 21:33

It really does dilly! Glad to hear things have settled down a bit for you. I can't wait to feel the movements we saw yesterday! Everything certainly feels more real now , as in a don't just feel sick; there's something making the sick worthwhile!

How you doing littlemiss?

Littlemiss20 · 17/03/2015 22:48

Hey ealison had a good day until now. Last few days seems to be nighttime that's the worst. Had a bit of blood coming up but think it's just with being sick.
How are you getting on today? X

eallison88 · 18/03/2015 06:36

I'm exactly the same. Evenings are by far the worst bit of the day. I seem to have settled into a routine that dictates that I can eat (certain things and small amounts) until 6 pm, and anything after 6 pm is definitely coming back up. I'm usually in bed by 9 and asleep by 10 as it gets more and more unpleasant - Im impressed you were up so late!

LucindaE · 18/03/2015 15:02

dilly That is happy news -I'm glad you are doing OK off meds, that's great.
LitttleMiss If you are bringing up blood form the throat then you don't sound as if you will be up to doing full shifts next week at all. Will the GP extend the sick note?
eallison Sorry about those awful evenings.
I hope everyone is coping today.
