Green discharge 29 weeks

Basically I have had thick, jelly like green discharge since about 13 weeks pregnant. I am 29 weeks now, didn't have it with my first pregnancy.

I went to see my gp when I first showed symptoms. They did swabs and found Group B Strep, I was also experiencing very bad abdominal pains. Gp prescribed me antibiotics which got rid of the pain, but didn't stop the discharge.

I have been back several times and had repeat swabs, they show nothing and the Dr doesn't seem to know what to do and kept treating me for thrush.

I went back to my gp yesterday and had another swab done, as I don't think this is normal at all. He agreed (different gp to one did previous swabs)

What if the swab comes back negative again, I'm so worried that this is a sign of problems with my baby. Worried I could have an infection that will cause birth defects or miscarriage.

I'm starting to panic and drs don't seem to know what to do with me, not sure what else I can do.

Has anyone had a similar experience and found out what the problem was? Sorry I am really worried and don't get my results until Friday.

Sorry, I have no experience but I'll bump in the hope someone can help.

Sorry you're having to deal with this, it must be horrid for you not knowing what's going on. Hopefully the gp will get you sorted out Flowers

I take it they have done a full STD check as well?

What about BV?

Pinkrach · 05/02/2015 14:05

Have you told your midwife that they found group b strep? You may need intravenous antibiotics during labour.

Agree with the above poster- could be BV?

Try not to worry- if they were really concerned about problems I am sure they would tell you xx

They tested for STD's in the initial swab, came back negative. Think it only tested for Chlamydia and Ghonorhea though.

There is a huge Group B Strep sticker on my notes so midwives know all about it, I will definitely remind them during delivery!

Hopefully get some answers tomorrow...

I'll ask my gp about BV

If you ring your maternity unit and describe your symptoms of a green discharge they will likely invite you in for a review.

Sorry sent too soon!

Which will treat if necessary and put your mind at rest in any case.

I had greenish discharge at about 7w. Swab clear from strep b which i was surprised at as prev labour had high temp.

All they found was thrush. It didnt stop the discharge, which carried on a few weeks but eventually stopped. (I had no thrush symptoms)
Around the time of the discharge i'd had a very heavy cold, green snot, so think maybe it was linked to fighting that off.
