Ok yes I'm utterly stupid atm , but I'm blaming sleep deprivation Blush

I hope this makes sense

I'm 32+3 so that works out at 8 months , right ?
Yet I'm not due until the 29th of March so by my working out then I'd be 10 months gone by the time I reach that date & that's not right cos I'm not an elephant though I feel like one
My midwife says I'm 7 months but that just doesn't work out either .

Beyond confused , somebody please give me a straight answer

right its very confusing as we are preggers for ten months as in ten Ã? four weeks, forty weeks but only 9 calender months so you are 8 weeks from giving birth and I would say around seven and a half months (calender) if you are due end of march....hope that helps a bit Smile

ladybunnikins · 04/02/2015 21:32

Pregnancy is 40 weeks or 10 lunar months (4 weeks to a lunar cycle) or 9 calendar months.

Showy · 04/02/2015 21:32

You're about 7.3 months pregnant. You'll be 8 months at about 35 weeks.

How are you calculating that you're already 8 months? A month is about 4.35 weeks.

This is all approximate.

fattymcfatfat · 04/02/2015 21:34

I think shes working 8 months on the basis that a month is 4 weeks. so she would be on that basis. I get how shes figured that out!

hodgepodgepanda · 04/02/2015 21:43

A month is 4 weeks , isn't it ?

4 weeks is 28 days. The only month that is 28 days is February. They're all 30 or 31 days otherwise. A month is 4.35 weeks.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 04/02/2015 21:45

No. Only February is four weeks (28 days) .All the other months are four and a bit weeks.

13 weeks = 3 months
26 weeks = 6 months
39 weeks = 9 months.

40 weeks = a bit over 9 months.

lillamyy1 · 04/02/2015 21:52

I got massively confused for exactly the same reason! It is very confusing.

hodgepodgepanda · 04/02/2015 22:35

Penguin It makes sense now I have seen it wrote down like that

lill Glad I'm not the only one ,I feel rather stupid tbh

You did know that there is a difference between lunar months and calender months, right?

Yes but for some reason I never even thought about Lunar Months .

I haven't slept properly in a hell of a long time so my brain isn't quite functioning

I've always thought of a month as being four weeks, a lunar month, and didn't realise that pregnancy lasts for four calendar months, not four lunar months. I asked the same question to my DP a couple of (calendar!) months ago because I couldn't work out how many months I was either! I think it's understandable to be confused because for example most people get their AF 'every month' and that's usually every four weeks, so every lunar month. I'd have thought it would stand to reason that pregnancy would be counted in the same way!

lillamyy1 · 05/02/2015 12:23

I mean, for nine months!!! Hmm
