Why won't they give you one..? Is it because you aren't offered one until 12 ish weeks and you are around 5 or so..?

these from 11 weeks \link{ www.nuchalscans.co.uk/nuchal_scan.htm\scan}

We had both of our early scans done at a bupa hospital. May be best checking your local private bupa hospital.

We had a 3d/4d scan done at 28 weeks at the leeds screening centre BUT they look like they only offer scans from 11 weeks as well..

Your best bet is a bupa hospital. HTH.xx

shhh - not all areas offer you a 12 week scan. Where I live you only get 1 at 20 weeks and if you want a 12 week scan you have to go to a private hospital. Another example of a postcode lottery. I think it is disgusting as the national guidelines state you should get a 12 week scan on the NHS.

I also didn't get offered any form of Downs testing on the NHS, so had to pay for that as well.

bump, Trace, I have emailed to your hotmail address.

hulababy · 20/10/2006 21:17

How early are you wanting one? I suspect you may need to go private somewhere.

We were only offered one scan - a dating scan at 16 weeks.

Try googling Leeds Screening Centre - you should get their website. I went there with 2nd pg and current bump at 12 weeks for nuchal scan - cost £100 and was done quickly so money for old rope, but v reassuring. I would have been too worried to wait till 16 or 20 weeks, having been older - 37 and 39 each time. They do all kinds of other scans as well.

It's pretty poor that they won't give you an early scan given your prev m/c. A friend had had a m/c and her MW got her an early scan by saying that she'd had some bleeding this time round - such a little white lie might get you in with the NHS .
