Hi, I am really worried that something may be wrong, I'm 11+5 with my first baby. I have had a pain on my right side for the last 2-3 hours, it isn't as bad when I'm stood still or sat down but if I move it hurts. I first thought I had pulled a muscle or something but it doesn't seem too tender to touch like a pulled muscle. It is concentrated in one area. I thought it might be the normal stretching pains I have had thoughout my pregnancy, but its a totally different pain.

I just called the early pregnancy unit and was told to take paracetamol (??) - I don't actually care about what pain I'm in but am just petrified there is something wrong with my baby. What should I do? Am I overreacting? I'm in tears.......

Try stay calm (harder said than done) It could be round ligament pains even if they don't seem like it. I had some horrific pains around 15 weeks in both my pregnancies and all was fine. Keep an eye on it and if its no better in 24 hours ring midwife and tell them again just to make sure and hopefully they can settle your mind. Try not to worry though I'm sure little one is fine Thanks

I had this at the and stage. It was a kidney infection Confused
Call 111 and see a gp ASAP.

Go to A&E or EPU. If it's so much pain you can't get comfy or sleep then it needs to get seen to asap and you're more than far enough along for a scan.

It could be trapped wind, I had such a horrible pain in my right side low down the other night that went on for hours and turned out to me trapped wind due to a stomach bug

laughingmyarseoff · 01/02/2015 10:59

It could be trapped wind or infection- that's most likely. Is it right lower or right upper? I would speak to your GP, OP. If you feel sick or get painful bowel movements then I would definitely contact GP in case of appendicitis.

Hi everyone, thanks for your kind posts, I struggled to get comfortable to sleep last night but wheni woke up this morning it was much better (although not completely gone). I went about my day and at 4ish bent down to pick up a basket of washing and the pain instantly came back, so thinking it is a pulled muscle. I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday afternoon anyway so at least I get a peek in there soon!! Sorry for seeming so worried, this pregnancy thing is a steep learning curve!! Thanks again xx

You've just transported me back 10 yrs, I had exactly the same pain, though it was so unbearable, I passed out.

It was the morning of my 12 week scan, but had one in the epu as I was blue-lighted in.

All was absolutely fine, no explanation, other than my Drs theory that I was constipated and it was as the womb flipped over the bowel (or something along those lines) this happens around 12 weeks, apparently.

Am currently trying to get my excruciating pain to turn off their light and go to sleep........ Grin

Having said that, all my pregnancies have been painful throughout, it's so hard to know what you should get checked out and what you shouldn't. My theory is it's always best to seek advice if you're worried.

I think the whole maternity ward knew my name by the time I actually went into labour for the first time. Not one of them made me feel like I was wasting their time.

Congrats and I hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy pain-free. Thanks

Hi all, so I had my 12 week scan yesterday.....and found out I'm having twins!!! Might explain the pain with extra stretching! Still can't quite believe it and although a bit shocked we are both over the moon :) thanks for all the support, it is so nice knowing others are thinking of you Smile I'm sure I will be making regular posts in the next few months as there is so much I don't know!!
