knittingirl · 30/01/2015 11:58

I would :) but that's not a medical opinion.

knittingirl · 30/01/2015 11:58

I really want one now.

leanne963 · 30/01/2015 12:01

I had one last week.......please don't ruin it for me and tell me they are on the 'not allowed' list?!!

But in all seriousness, i think a milkshake is fine and baby seemed to enjoy it too.

DextersMistress · 30/01/2015 12:01

I knew someone who craved -and had- McDonald's milkshakes throughout her pregnancy (a couple per day) her baby was almost 11lbs! Grin

LMGTFY · 30/01/2015 12:03

I mainlined them through my pregnancies but never have them when not pregnant, crazy banana milkshake craving!

polarbearshuffle · 30/01/2015 12:05

I have them and I'm pregnant. Mmmmm! Tho my friend tells me off for it. I think mcflurrys are a no go Sad

KatoPotato · 30/01/2015 12:07

HTe advice is avoid 'Mr Whippy' style ice creams, however I've been told that McDonalds strict cleaning requirements mean McFlurries are okay?

fattymcfatfat · 30/01/2015 12:07

I have them...surely they are allowed

Findingthisdifficult1234 · 30/01/2015 12:09

Ok I've drank it!! I couldn't help it! Can't wait till I have this baby! All this worry about what you can and can't do :(

dementedpixie · 30/01/2015 12:14

of course they are ok, why wouldn't they be??

Number3cometome · 30/01/2015 12:14

They are fine, Mcdonalds have very strict cleanliness rules.

I get the choc one and dip chips in it Grin

rubyboo2 · 30/01/2015 12:15

Omg seriously ? Of course you can have a milkshake , I had a taste for the Macdonalds choccy ones lovely . I am due to drop and I am fine Smile

Bondy83 · 30/01/2015 12:33

Why would you not be allowed one???

TheEagle · 30/01/2015 12:39

The reason that some HCPs cite for staying away from that soft whip style ice cream is that the metal containers in which it's churned can sometimes be harbouring listeria.

If you're happy with the cleanliness of the place where they're selling the ice cream then it's probably fine.

shelley1977 · 30/01/2015 12:46

Ive had quite a few this pregnancy, god i love the chocolate milkshakes. Not had one in a few weeks Smile really want one now!

Number3cometome · 30/01/2015 13:59

I just had one - I'm still breathing mumsnetting

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 30/01/2015 14:08

I've had at least 3 this pregnancy so far and many more than that when pregnant with DD! It's actually the soft whip ice cream you're warned against however McDonald's have extremely high cleanliness standards on their machines so mcflurries are generally considered to be ok.

Number3cometome · 30/01/2015 14:46

3?

More like 33 here Blush

Findingthisdifficult1234 · 30/01/2015 14:49

Haha you lot have definitely made me feel better! It must be a first pregnancy syndrome I'm suffering! I'm sure by my third I'd have got over all this panic about listera, toxoplasmosis and whatever awful other thing pregnant women can catch that can harm their babies!

OP posts:
Findingthisdifficult1234 · 30/01/2015 14:49

... That's if I make it to having a third !!!

happygojo · 30/01/2015 14:50

I have had one, didn't even think about it to be fair. I had a large big mac meal with a strawberry milkshake. I was REALLY craving it. So I had it, it was amazing.... but haven't wanted one since. Melon on the other hand.... I cannot get enough of that stuff!

knittingirl · 30/01/2015 14:56

I am so stopping at MacDonalds on my way home from work today...

MissHobart · 30/01/2015 15:43

Yup, have to go and get one now! Thanks! Wink

weeblueberry · 30/01/2015 15:49

For those asking why you 'shouldn't' have one, soft serve ice cream is on the NHS' nono list. However, this is primarily due to hygiene issues. And given how strict McDonalds are about cleaning their machines I (and many others I suspect...) tend to do our own risk assessment and guzzle them anyway Grin

smoothieooo · 30/01/2015 15:53

I had many, many McD's vanilla milkshakes when pregnant with DS1 (17 years ago) - I couldn't get enough of them! He's now a strapping 16 YO in a selective grammar, on course for 10 A-grade GCSE's (nothing to do with the milkshakes, just a bit of a not-so-stealth boast Grin )!!
