Haha green lizard, that was my oldrr brother reaction when he found out we were going to get another baby in the family!

lightgreenglass · 30/01/2015 08:51

There's 10 years between my eldest sister and my brother and 8 years between me and him. We all doted on him growing up and he's coming to stay for the weekend tonight. We're all incredibly close. I now have kids of my own and he loves being the cool uncle. I wouldn't mind having a large age gap myself.

I have 8, 6, 4 and (after much heartache) 8 months.
They all worship our new-ish arrival Smile
It'll be fine!

We have large age gaps between all of us. My mum had 3 in 4 years, a 9 year gap, and then a five year gap before having twins. My eldest ds is 18 years older than me. We always got on well & we are all having afternoon tea together on Saturday. Just us, no other halfs and no kids. Really looking forward to it.

My ds will be 9 wen babys born and I'm not worried at all. If anything I'm glad cos he's a real little help and will be a god send wen dh goes bak to work. Xx

My stepson loves his brother/my DS (7 years his junior). Like others have reported he is quite protective of him and interested in his development, especially as he's just a baby still so things are happening all the time. I think it helps that he used to be sad about being an only child before, and thought he always would be.

I'm pregnant with dc3 and will have a 13 & 8 year gap.

I'm looking forward to it.

The only problem I envisage is bedroom sharing.

Really interested to read this because we're doing donor egg IVF at the moment and if it's successful we'll have at least an 8 year gap. DS is desperate for a sibling...

I'm the youngest of 4. There's 4, 8 1/2 and 10 years between me and my siblings - two brothers in the middle and the eldest is my sister.

Growing up, I was always closest to the brother who is 8 1/2 years older than me. As an adult, I'm still close to him and to my sister, who has become a real friend. She was great when I was in my teens - if our mother didn't want me to do something, she used to say "you didn't let me do that, I did it anyway and I ended up okay..." Smile

There are ten years between me and my sister and it's like we had completely different parents. We are very very different people because of it. My parents were extremely dis functional during my earlier years and I was their first born, by the time my sister came along they had started to get it together a bit and by the time my sister was 5 I had moved out (my brother a few years later too) they were like 'normal ' parents.

fattycow · 30/01/2015 09:40

There is no 'best' gap.

Tia2005 · 30/01/2015 10:03

Just can't wait to tell my daughter I'm only 6 weeks so not telling her yet

I have 10 years between my boys. They are incredibly close. Have shared a flat, have each other's kids, both do shift work. Spend lots of time together. Plus the older and my daughter were second parents to the younger one.

As teenagers they collected him from school and looked after him in the holidays. It was brilliant

jaykay34 · 30/01/2015 13:35

My b/g twins are 11 years older than my baby son. To be honest, I think it's a great gap.

The elder two are more independant and understanding if I need to be tending to my little one. They know he has different needs to them and aren't phased by having to share my attention. They are also massively helpful...like they will feed him or play with him if I am cooking dinner. If I need to leave the room for any small reason, I can leave them with him and not worry about them prodding him or dropping him etc.

They also absolutely dote on him - as do all their friends.

Initially they were horrified that I had had sex with their stepdad, as they had just done sex education at school when I became pregnant. And disgusted I had "actually had sex with TWO men" in my lifetime Grin .

SueV14 · 30/01/2015 22:25

greenlizard Exactly my reaction about my parent having sex when I was 15 and mom said she's pregnant. And I was bloody mean until my bro was born... But once I held him for the first time I was in love! :)
