Aching stomach after swimming - normal?

After swimming a few lengths of breaststroke, I get aches in my stomach. Not painful, but as if I've got a stitch when running. Also, I have to brace myself for the ache when I get out of the pool using the steps.

Is this just normal pregnancy-type aches due to stomach muscles being stretched? Has anyone else had this? I'm 23 weeks pregnant by the way.

I went swimming the other week (am now 31 weeks) and my tummy ached as well. I thought it was because it was the first time I've swam in over a year (and probably wasn't the best time to start a new exercise regime!)

Oddly enough I swim a lot and when I told the midwife at my booking-in appointment a couple of weeks ago she said that from about 18weeks you can get very achey in your stomach during and after swimming because of the the ligaments and muscles being looser. So there you go, it's official!

Aha! Thanks - that explains it. Yes, it does feel like loose ligaments/muscles.
