Hi all,

Found out last week that I was pregnant after a little while thinking it couldn't be true (been trying for nearly a year and every time I thought it might happen, along came AF) and am about 9 weeks in. Am a first time mum, no brothers or sisters so a bit clueless! I have a strange feeling like I know something's 'there' and twinges that feel like pinching rather than the normal sort of pain you get with period pains. No bleeding, but it's been fairly constant all day. Doc appointment on Thursday but could do with some reassurance!

Normal?

Firstly, huge congratulations!! In the early weeks of my first pregnancy I had lots of 'stretching' pain and twinges. In fact I recall one evening doubled over the footstool in our lounge they were so strong. In my experience I discovered lots of other expectant mums get this too. I paid for an early scan to put my mind at ease amongst other reasons. Everything progressed normally and my daughter is now 2.5. I had another baby 7 weeks ago and second time round I didn't feel at all pregnant for weeks - cue another early scan to put my kind at rest!x

Thanks and congrats to you too! It's all very new, I'll be pleased when I've had my first scan and can rest a little easier :) x

Are the pains quite low and to the sides rather than all around? Sounds like the ligaments especially at 9 weeks when there is preparation for the uterus to pop up out of pelvis and also placenta growing ready to take over :)

Yes totally normal. I had lots of cramps the first few weeks and quite a bit of stretching too. Its ur insides making room for baby bean xx

Pains are normal unless they become debilitating or you're bleeding.
Congratulations on your pregnancy though! X
