So AF is currently 9 days late. I'm holding off from POAS just yet! But of course my mind is in overdrive and I can't stop thinking about 'telling people' if I do get a positive test!! I really want to think of a romantic way to tell my partner.

How did you tell yours?

First time around I ran into the bedroom after POAS and shrieked 'Oh my god' (it was 6.30am, I woke him up, he wasn't impressed).

Second time I ran downstairs after POAS and shrieked 'Bloody hell, I'm pregnant'. Bizarrely, it was about 6.30am again, but he was already downstairs entertaining 2yo DD!

Marshpillow · 27/01/2015 17:19

Shouted "come and have a look at this!!" down the stairs.

Marshpillow · 27/01/2015 17:21

Forgot to add, that was an Internet cheapy. Went to the supermarket the next day before work, did a digi in the supermarket loos to confirm, and then rang him from the cubicle.

fattymcfatfat · 27/01/2015 17:23

Erm I told exp all three times by throwing a pee stick at him so not really much help for the romance haha

vestandknickers · 27/01/2015 17:24

Pissed on a stick.

Yelled from the bathroom.

Job done!

He was over the moon and I don't think my lack of finesse took the shine off!

BiscuitsofYum · 27/01/2015 17:25

I chucked the test in his face and shouted/screamed that he was a dick for doing this to me. It was the least romantic way of doing it but it was a major shock

pretty much the same, woke him up by throwing the peed on stick at him and praising his super sperm. I then drew him a picture of a sperm wearing a cape! He showed my mum....

vestandknickers · 27/01/2015 17:41

fattymcfatfat · 27/01/2015 17:48

I have just laughed out loud for real! My poor ds thought I was laughing at him for saying hes sorry for misbehaving!
Throwing a pee stick definitely seems to be a favourite. ..but pictures of super sperm....milkandchalk your poor mum! Grin

Made DH go in and look at the test as I was too much of a wimp ha.

The night before I'd just said 'I have something on my mind, my period is a week late' so he knew I was going to test in the morning. Aaaagh!

BadIdeaBear · 27/01/2015 18:19

Sadly, I didn't get to actually throw the stick at him, but he rang just after I'd POAS in my work loo as he knew I was going to, and so I just had to tell him over the phone.

Little romance there, either...

ShoeJunkie · 27/01/2015 18:23

Very similar to everyone else - basically shoved the stick under his nose both times and said "look at this!"

cerealqueen · 27/01/2015 18:28

We had gone to see 'There Will Be Blood' at the cinema. I was drinking a glass of wine and told DP it might be last for a while, and he said 'So there isn't any blood'. We both though this was hilarious.

Meplusyouequals4 · 27/01/2015 18:32

with DS I told his mum as I was at her house(we lived there)when I found out and she shouted "oh no you didn't not in my house" at DH (we was 18) was rather funny.

With DD we had been trying for a few months (15 months to be exact)so he was stood on the other side of the door while I POAS and when the second line came up straight away I shouted "well it works" Grin he then ran in and nearly knocked me flying trying to get passed me to look.

With DC3 (not born yet, 2 weeks to go) we was in the doctors office as I had been having bloods done for a progress check after my weight loss surgery. and he said "well I have some good news for you, your pregnant"...... "oh and you have lost a total of 13 stone"

The first time I kept it to myself for a few days as I was in shock, then just told him, in words, he was over the moon and cried. I like to think of that happy reaction and substitute it in to my memory of telling him the other four times, like patchwork. Because the other four times we basically just hugged each other in a mess of worry and disbelief, then did little worried, wistful smiles at each other for weeks on end.

Whatafunnyninkynonk · 27/01/2015 18:35

Picked him up from work and announced we needed to stop at tesco to get a test. Poor lamb had no idea I could be due af and therefore in need of one, but then I later discovered he thought women 'grew' a cervix during pregnancy so biology not a strong point there.

We watched stupid videos on YouTube whilst waiting for test to be ready then I filmed him looking at it Smile

pinkie87 · 27/01/2015 18:56

I woke up early with my DH so we could test before we both went to work. I tested while he showered. I then sat there on the loo and told him there was a line but I'd surely done the test wrong as we couldn't possibly be pregnant so soon!!! Didn't sink in at all. Went to work and did another test and called him to tell him it was definitely positive. We were both over the moon but the shock of it prevented me from doing anything romantic. It was Christmas eve too, if I was less nervous I could have done it in such a nice way but don't think it matters really. :)

northernlass81 · 27/01/2015 19:19

I bought some fridge letters and wrote it on the fridge. Left him to discover it after a shower whilst I looked on.

yummymango · 27/01/2015 19:23

Did the test on 23rd Dec and was trying to hold out until Christmas day to surprise him. Plan was foiled when I was served a triple straight gin martini that evening and I had to fess up!

applecore0317 · 27/01/2015 19:26

I just told my DH by email... I said if I did a test would he want to know then and there or when he got home from work. So he said then and there lol was perfectly times as his boss had a new born and he was ribbing him about how knackered he looked and taking the mick out of nappies and sleepless nights and how nothing would be the same ever again...

His boss was delighted when he then said "ah, sooo the Mrs has just told me she is pregnant" brilliant Smile

mamaduckbone · 27/01/2015 20:06

Ds1- nice romantic meal
Ds2 - by the side of the A14 on a cold wet October evening whilst 2 year old Ds1 was doing a poo on the potty.

Spot the difference. Grin

Justyouwaitandsee · 27/01/2015 20:20

After a few months of both of us staring intently at a negative test, I had kind of given up on getting a positive result so snuck off upstairs when he was watching the Grand Prix, just to put my mind at rest and to avoid seeing his disappointment.

When it turned positive, I ran downstairs and said 'look at this'. Ignoring me, he said 'no look at this' as he rewound the TV and made me watch an overtaking manoeuvre by Alonso. After patiently waiting and watching I said 'yes, great, fantastic, now will you look at this?!' And stuck the test in front of his face. He did a slow motion grin, turned and looked for confirmation in was really true and then jumped up to give me a massive hug. Was an amazing moment.
