I am having a scan tomorrow, and I am 8+5 weeks, I had a small bleed yesterday, do you get to keep a photo as this is not the normal 12 week scan?

When I was in your position and had a scan, I did get offered a couple of pics but only once the Dr had established all was ok. Good luck!

I doubt it. You could ask but they often charge for scan pictures.

Bubba19alicia · 26/01/2015 21:49

Was just wondering, thankyou!:) would only like one as I'm a worrier an think it would help me to look at it and think that everything will be fine!

I had a scan at 8+5 and was given photos. It was a private one, so nhs may be different.
Baby is little more than a blob! But having them to look back at kind of makes it feel real.

I hope it all goes ok for you Flowers

Bubba19alicia · 26/01/2015 21:55

Thanks girls! And I hope so too Frolicacid, had two previous miscarriages at 4 and 5 weeks, and yesterday had a bleed and sharp pains in my left side :/ took the hospital 7 hours before they even got to me! Fingers crossed Flowers

I got one at 6 weeks on nhs.

bellaboo88 · 26/01/2015 22:09

I'm sorry to say I didn't. Not even allowed to take a photo of the screen :(

HollyBen · 26/01/2015 22:09

The first time i had a positive outcome scan at 8 weeks i got given a photo. The second time i didn't

Bubba19alicia · 26/01/2015 22:11

Really really hope I get one, think whether you get one or not is probably down to different districts and areas with different rules/funding.

I had an early scan with my second child (currently 6 weeks and kicking about on the floor in front of me) after a bleed. I did get given a picture which I didn't expect and was lovely to receive. Couldn't make head nor tail of it mind but it was still lovely to see the teeny blob anyway. Congratulations

woodwaj · 26/01/2015 22:31

Defo ask! Worst scenario they say no! I was offered though. Good luck with the scan!

Jodie1982 · 26/01/2015 23:58

I've had a few emergency early scans and was never allowed a photo. :(

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 27/01/2015 00:09

I had regular scans from 6 -12 weeks and from 20+ and only stopped getting photos after the Baby was too big and made no sense on the screen ...

thesmallbear · 27/01/2015 02:29

My EPU don't give out photos and there are signs in the waiting room to that effect. Good luck and thinking of you.

LittleHornbill · 27/01/2015 06:20

Where I am you buy a ticket in the waiting room for £3 and exchange it for a print out. I had a scan yesterday, was supposed to be 12 weeks but turned out to be 8 and she gave DH a print out and told him to keep the ticket for next time.
Could be because she scared us so much though, being earlier than expected she couldn't see anything and I had to have an internal scan instead.

Swanny84 · 27/01/2015 07:41

Our hospital charge £4 for photos but when we had a reassurance scan at 7w 6 days she gave us one for free which was lovely of her. We were just so relieved baby was in right place with heartbeat I didn't think to ask so was an added bonus. Hope baby is ok

CoodleMoodle · 27/01/2015 07:50

We got a picture at 7ish weeks, and it was free. Just a blob but very special!

We had a few more scans and if we got a pic we were asked to put some money in the donation box.

losthermind · 27/01/2015 10:21

I was given a free pic at the epau when I went for an early scan
But every clinic is differant

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 27/01/2015 10:23

I had an early scan due to spotting at 8+5 last time and wasn't offered any photos, although to be honest you couldn't see much anyway. I had a private reassurance scan at 8+6 this time and got photos but that was probably because we paid for it Smile.

Swanny84 · 27/01/2015 17:47

How did your scan go bubba? Xx
