Firstly, waaaaaaaaaaaaaah lol.

First post on MN, so hello Grin

Now, practicalities. Now the initial excitement has settled in, I have some queries I'm hoping you lot can help me out with. It's occurred to me that I know literally nothing about pregnancy, or babies, so I'm reading up, any pointers for anything generally useful / idiot's guide will be greatly appreciated.

The first of my initial queries is related to morning sickness. Unfortunately, we have no idea how far along my wife is, she was previously on the Depo injection which she came off about 12 months ago, and her cycle had only just started to return, and was in no way predictable or settled, so we don't have any dates to go off. We have a dating scan booked this Thursday after seeing the GP, so hopefully that will enlighten us a little, however all of a sudden she's really suffering with morning sickness. It can come on from 4:30am, but can also be around in the evenings, general nausea and discomfort. Is there anything she can take or do to help this at all? She's already taking centrum pregnancy supplements.

2nd, any recommendations for decent maternity bra's? I'm hoping I can track something down to suprise her with as she's already complaining of sore boobs, the problem is she's a 32G, and buying normal bra's is enough of a mission. Ideally she's after the one piece fabric, over the head sort of style affair, especially for when she's sleeping, but I'm struggling to find anything like that near her size.

Thanks in advance!

You can buy the bands in most chemists, and Boots usually carry them. I think they tend to have them in the section with travel-related stuff.

I think the bra and nausea questions have been covered but if you want an idea for a nice surprise... my DH bought me a very indulgent 'relaxing' set - bath foam, big smelly candle, cooling foot balm thing etc... It was so touching that he'd thought about me and how tired (and anxious) I was in the early days and searched out these lovely things Smile
Congratulations and good luck with your baby!

Don't argue with her about whether something is smelly. If it's making her nauseous, it is a problem for her, and something needs to be done about it. My sister craved beef (to the point that she gave up being a vegetarian) and was revolted by peanut butter when she was pregnant. In this pregnancy, I've been the other way around- craved peanut butter, revolted by beef. It really is an individual thing (although my sister and I have always been kind of opposites). It's also entirely possible that she'll be revolted by something she loves when she's not pregnant.

I agree, don't buy the bra as a surprise, instead treat her to a shopping trip to be fitted properly, she will appreciate it just as much and actually get a bra that fits.... There may be many many more bra fittings between now and babies arrival, just be warned. X

Well, all looks good on the dating scan, we're 7 weeks along, waaaaah.

We've had some success with travel sickness bands so far, that said she was 'actually' sick for the first time this morning, so swings and roundabouts lol.

Thanks for all the advice :)
