I am 46, have DD7 and am not TTC. Had unprotected sex on day 6 at end of period and had protected sex after that. AF is now 4 days late (am always regular) and my boobs are enormous. Surely I can't be PG? If it was a peri menopause thang and I am just missing a period would I have the huge boobs? Whadyou think?

'kin 'ell, there was me thinking I'd be too old at nearly 44. Clearly the maternal force is strong. Congratulations. I'm a bit jealous. What does your OH think? Does he know yet?

hrpufnstuf · 26/01/2015 17:00

well done that girl Grin we also had a lovely last minute surprise and baby is due in March Smile

More seriously, I think you're classed as old once you're past 37 anyway so can't really think what extra tests you would get. You might get offered more monitoring possibly but it'll probably depend on how your pregnancy progresses. How was the last one?

Congratulations Flowers

I am 45 and currently 32 +3 with my first - planned! I have nothing to compare it to but so far it's been fine and apart from vile morning sickness until about 15 weeks i feel tip top and I have two step kids in their teens and work full time in a fairly full on job - but maybe I am just lucky?

I am consultant led due to a higher risk of developing pre-eclampsia so I seem to be forever attending appointments,Macintosh my BP checked, peeling into pots and being scanned which is a bit annoying compared to all the "youngsters" (late 30's) at work who are also pregnant but are being left to their own devices and always seem to be moaning a lot about how bad they feel Grin

How is your other half taking the news??

SarfEasticated · 26/01/2015 17:33

Last pg was fine, no sickness or anything, in fact i felt so well, that I may have overdone it at bit, as DD was 36+6 when she was born. The midwife said the placenta was granular Blush felt bad about that. DH was as surprised as me, he's at work so we are going to talk about it tonight. He's a darling though, so I am not envisaging anything horrid. I have heard that when you get older your eggs start firing off randomly in a last ditched attempt to get fertilised. I can only imagine that is what happened. We always said we would only have one, so will need to do some quite rapid rethinking. I am pleased that DD will have a little sibling though.

I wonder if there is a thread for single old mothers, or is that too niche!. DH not being such a 'darling' and wanting life to stay the way it is ie no baby. I kind of see it as such an unexpected miracle that I couldn't just throw it away. :( Not sure how you reach agreement about this kind of thing, have an idea that it may blow everything apart.

Please, don't worry yourself and your baby! It could be just first shock of having to change plans for your partner. Hopefully, he'll get over it in a couple of weeks.
I had mc last year in similar situation, so a bit emotional about it.

sebsmummy1 · 28/01/2015 21:48

There is a thread for older mummies! If you look for 'old cluckers' I think it's in the antenatal clubs area.

So sorry your husband isn't being supportive Sad

Don't know if you'll see this, but just wanted to say hope things have calmed down a bit and you are ok Flowers.
