Blue pram for a baby girl?

Shootingstar2289 · 25/01/2015 12:34

I am pregnant with baby number 2 and found a pram I really love - they do it in black, silver, pink and royal blue. I love the blue one so much.

We don't know what we're having yet (if we do find out at our next scan!).

But would it be ok to use a blue pram for a little girl? Obviously wouldn't use pink for a boy (don't want a pink pram anyway) but I just love this blue colour.

Would any other mums to be use blue for a little girl?

Yes of course it's fine.

amy83firsttimer · 25/01/2015 12:37

What exactly would happen if you put a baby boy in a pink pram?!

DishwasherDogs · 25/01/2015 12:39

Well, if you're happy to run the risk of a blue pram turning your dd into boy......

Of course it'll be fine. Fwiw, my ds used a pink pushchair and is absolutely fine. It hasn't scarred him at all.

HollyBdenum · 25/01/2015 12:45

I really don't see the problem at all.

I bought a blue and grey pushchair for DD and carried DS in a sling which was predominantly pink. It's not as though blue dye is full of testosterone.

Nolim · 25/01/2015 12:46

I dont see the problem either

Quitelikely · 25/01/2015 12:46

I wouldn't.

Quitelikely · 25/01/2015 12:47

It's fine to do but if I saw you I would assume it was elder brothers hand me down!

Judgey I know. No offence intended

WorryWurta · 25/01/2015 12:48

Of course it will be fine, I'm a girl and I wear loads of blue ;-) IMHO blue and pink look quite nice together anyway so if you have a girl and she has pink blankets/accessories it will probably look really sweet. You might want to stick something pink on there only if you would be offended if people mistook her for a boy.

I don't know what I'm having but I have a red pram (got it second hand from a friend) and tbh I'm more worried about if we're having a girl because people would buy her pink clothes and then we'd have a dreadful pink/red clash Grin

AuntieStella · 25/01/2015 12:49

Unless this is tongue in cheek, it really shows how far 'pinkification' has gone.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 25/01/2015 12:53

Really?! What do you think will happen to her if she sits in a blue pram? My pram is red, what sex would you expect my baby to be?

It's completely fine. I even dress my baby girl in blue sometimes!

sleepybee · 25/01/2015 12:56

I've bought the silver cross pioneer pram in black but got the matching purple car seat. I was going for the purple pram too, but it was just too much (for me). The pioneer/wayfarer comes in blue, pink, red, green, purple & black. The blue is lovely, but I was concerned people would assume it was a boy. We aren't finding out the sex. I've bought navy & green clothes tho & an Aqua coloured cot. Just get what you want SmileGrin

CakeMakesMeHappy · 25/01/2015 12:57

Definitely fine! We got a plum coloured pram and didn't know what we were having. Figure if it was a boy it would have boy coloured blankets and it wasn't too girly (it's a colour DH wears a lot!).
I think a blue pram would be just fine for a girl.

Saying that, DD has been dressed in pink hat before, in her cosy toes with butterflies on and I've still been asked if she's a boy Confused people can be daft!

JennyBlueWren · 25/01/2015 12:58

I don't know if I'm having a boy or a girl but I've bought some lovely blue clothes because baby blue is my favourite colour! Particularly love the snowbag I bought.
I'm not particularly fond of pink so haven't bought anything much in this although a pokadot fleece suit does have some pink dots. DH bought a pterodactyl with pink wings which was from the "pink" section of the gift shop for baby's first toy but that was because he likes dinosaurs.

misdee · 25/01/2015 12:58

By putting a baby girl into a blue pram it will grow a penis and a beard.

hugoagogo · 25/01/2015 13:02
Confused
Foggymist · 25/01/2015 13:08

Yep misdee and putting a boy in anything pink makes them gay, obviously.

ApocalypseThen · 25/01/2015 13:19

I think it's very important not to let a boy child even see pink in case they catch gay off it.

And if you let blue touch a girl's skin it all falls off.

BaronessBomburst · 25/01/2015 13:22

Op, do you ever wear blue?
Well, there you go then. Of course it's okay!

OddFodd · 25/01/2015 13:23

Quitelikely - hand me down pram? Is there such a thing?

blowinahoolie · 25/01/2015 13:26

A pram is a pram. They're only in it for a short time. My pram is blue and I didn't know what I was having with my first, but it would have done a boy or a girl. Your baby won't mind!

MrsTawdry · 25/01/2015 13:28

Obviously nothing OP. My friend borrowed my beautiful moses basket which was hand lined in rosebud print pink cotton...and yes..it was for her baby boy. She said he'd look lovely in it and it was a good quality one....and he did look lovely too.

HesterShaw · 25/01/2015 13:31

Oh for the 70s when prams were all blue.

What do you think will happen if you put your child in the wrong colour pram? Will they transform slowly into the other gender or something?

minipie · 25/01/2015 13:33

The baby will not care.

The only question is whether you mind OP. The worst that could happen is some people may assume you have a baby boy. So what. Maybe when you tell them it's a baby girl they might learn not to make assumptions based on daft things like pram colour.

Cupcakes123 · 25/01/2015 13:34

I would :)

I have a 5 month old boy and a blue pram, he has a white snowsuit and people ask me how old my daughter is Hmm I don't think people pay much attention to the pram colour!

Fullpleatherjacket · 25/01/2015 13:36

Back in the day you couldn't even get a pink pram. Dd has survived unscathed despite being carted round in her older brother's castoff navy tartan jalopy.

Put your dd in whatever you love. I guarantee she will not notice.
