Rib pain, backache and bras..

Hello,

I'm 30 weeks pregnant (due boxing day ) and am really suffering. Basically, my left rib hurts because baby's growing, which leads to backache, and I cannot bear to wear a bra because no matter how soft, it still sits at the very point where my rib pain is! Can't do without a bra since I'm at work but I do end up opening it during the day. Anyone got any suggestions/tips? I cannot roam around with bouncy boobs but the pain is excruciating!!
Ta!

Hi! Im due christmas day!! I have been suffering a bit bra wise as well. Im going to get one of those bra extenders, i think that might help? I think mine is hurting becase its become too small as my ribcage is expanding (along with the rest of me!)xxx

You could try maternity vests with inbuilt bra or nursing bras like sports bras types so just pull on rather than having hooks. These tend to be less tight and softer.

Thanks for the maternity vest tip, I'll give it a go jojo76 I just recently got myself remeasured and have bought a bigger size but it's not helping. Let me know how you get on with the bra extenders? Xmas day wow are you imagining a very hungover midwife because I am, who knows I may be offering her pain relief instead ;)

Ill let you know, the vest idea sounds good too, might try that. I am hoping that christmas babies just appear all nice and clean in a stocking on the mantlepiece on christmas morning, actually! im hoping mine doesnt make an appearance till just after christmas or a few days before, but ds was on his due date so we will see........

Hi smmerlovebaby, I am 34 weeks and am having the same problem. I am due on 27th Nov. I will take up JodieG1's advice and buy a vest bra. Thanks for the advice. I tried the bra extenders, but becuase of my back expanding it didnt go down well. Good Luck all of you.

I bought one of these at the Baby Show at Earl's Court on Saturday. REALLY comfy and give a reasonable amount of support. I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy bras at the moment but have been slipping into this in the evening since I bought it - I will probably get some more for later on in my pregnancy when I outgrow my normal bras.

They also do a nursing version. You can buy them at Babies'R'Us as well (but only the medium and large sizes, which they didn't tell me at the Baby Show or I'd have bought more than one there).
