I'm going away for the weekend in 2 weeks with my OH and would love to get one and pamper myself a little bit before we go as I don't really go anywhere to get all dressed up anymore now that I'm 17 weeks pregnant but I've read different reviews.

I've seen this somewhere so I'm sure a quick Google will help but no, I seem to remember that it's the spray that's the issue, not the tan IYSWIM. So you could use one of the creams, but not the booth or spray.

I just had a quick look for you, NHS don't recommend spray tans because they're not sure of the damage the inhalation can do but creams and mousse seem perfectly safe... Unless you have an allergic reaction because of the hormonal changes! I plan on pampering myself with some cream at home today Grin goodbye winter white!

My tanning lady says guidelines rule not in first trimester ... but after that all should be okay. Like with most things, more research needs to be done.

Oh no Sad I'm rubbish at fake tanning at home, I always depend on spray tans or usually sunbeds (which obviously I've stopped now) but I look like Casper lol and wanted to wear a dress as I've worn leggings all winter. Boo!!! Thanks though Grin

Thanks blackwidow, maybe I will ask in my usual salon if they spray pregnant ladies but I wouldn't want to harm my babies. Maybe I'll stick to tights if not, best to be safe than than sorry.

Rebecca if difficult at home use the self tan mitt boots sell them for about 4£, I find they work well at eliminating streaks and not making hands messy.i usually use sunshinmer as goes on nicely, stays on in light rain but washes off with soap.

Hi rebecca I've been tanning throughout pregnancy (although I've been using st tropez mousse at home) however you could ask your salon for a face mask for the spray tan until they do your face where you will need to hold your breath anyway. Just check the salon had a good extraction system. X

Rebecca1608 · 22/01/2015 14:49

Yeah I've checked with salon and they're ok with it. I'll ask for the face mask like you suggested :) x thanks everyone.

I had a spray tan for new year before I found out I was pregnant inmediatley panicked when I found out and when I went to my gp I mentioned it to her, she said if they're not constant and you're in a ventilated area you will be fine

Rebecca1608 · 22/01/2015 18:29

Brilliant thanks :) it's only going to be the once for my weekend away in a couple of weeks. Doubt I'll be going anywhere else before babies born in June LOL

I am a hairdresser and beauty therapist, for my pregnant ladies I use nose filters and have the room well ventilated. That's fine :)
