for the last couple of hours I've been having quite regular contractions ( every 20-30 minutes) my stomach tightens up for about 30 seconds and a couple have been uncomfortable verging on a little painful. I'm 39 weeks and I've been having noticeable braxton hicks for about 6 weeks but they have been getting increasingly strong and uncomfortable but never this regular. I haven't had any other signs ( show/ waters breaking although I've had increased discharge) do you think these are real? They don't seem painful enough to be the real thing!

weelamb123 · 19/01/2015 20:09

I think they are just Braxton hicks. Believe me when they start to hurt u'll know its time. Good luck xx

They sound like it to me. BH aren't supposed to go on for more than about an hour, I don't think.

Having said that, I am 38 weeks with #2 & can't remember what it felt like last time. I'm driving myself mad!

Naomip88 · 19/01/2015 20:17

That's what I thought! I've had so many weird twinges over the last couple of days that I can't tell what's what!

Mine started like that Smile mildly uncomfortable tightenings 20-30 minutes apart that gradually got more painful and regular until she was born the following lunchtime.

It took from 5.30am until 9pm before they were so painful I went back in.

I remember being checked in the morning and hearing a woman really moaning in pain a few beds up, I commented to dh that she was making a fuss as they weren't THAT painful, little did I know that would be me in a few hours, hehe.

Naomip88 · 19/01/2015 20:24

Oh maybe this could be it then! I'm excited now :-)

Sounds like early labour to me :)
Mine started like that. Took nearly 24hours for anything more to happen. Then my waters went and suddenly it was all go!
Good luck OP

Pregnantagain7 · 19/01/2015 20:38

Fingers crossed this is it for you!
Don't be too disappointed if it's not though it means it won't be too much longer:)
I did contract like this for a few hours every evening for a week until Ds was born. I used to think this has got to be it then it would all bloody stop Grin
Good luck!

Jodie1982 · 19/01/2015 21:17

I think it's just strong Braxton Hicks. Mine are getting stronger now, 36+2 with DC5, you'll know when it's Contractions, strong period pains that come in waves. Good luck.

MrsVamos · 19/01/2015 21:18

Good luck !

Big glass of wine & try to get some kip. Either you'll sleep thru or you'll lose half the night from 3am.

Naomip88 · 19/01/2015 21:53

Definitely getting stronger! I'll keep you updated!

Mine started like that with dc2. I ended up in slow labour for two weeks as everytime I went into hospital everything stopped on me!!!! But I was dilating slowly but surely. ...hopefully things move a little quicker for you!

lljkk · 20/01/2015 07:22
