Breastfeeding success/issues after augmentation?

Just asking for any experiences of problems encountered or success rates of breastfeeding after implants. I had implants (under muscle/under boob incision) 3 years ago as having breastfed 4 babies for a year each and after losing dc5 we decided no more and hubby arranged surgery knowing how unhappy I had always been about my chest (was an aa) and even more so after feeding the kids ... now we are 26+ weeks and I want to feed baby myself as I did her siblings and surgeon says there shouldn't be an issue but wondered if any mums here had anything to add :)

I had breast implants under the muscle same as you 5 years before my first dc and fed her without problems until 6 months then dc2 until 19 months.

Only thing and I've never found an answer to this is I suffered with mastitis almost every month. I read somewhere that the implants may have been to blame but ??
My surgeon told me if a woman can breast feed before breast implants she will be able to after as long as surgery all fine and behind the muscle implants. They are not actually in your breast at all just right behind it.
And after feeding them both they still look fab Wink Although I'm 11 weeks with dc3 so we will see what a third pregnancy and bf does...

I had mine done in march 12 and again in october 12 (second one due to correcting issues that came with the first one) I got pregnant with my dc3 4wks after my second op. I could feed fine, only problem is he couldnt latch correctly due to lip and tounge tie.

Ty ladies ... I'm reassured hearing that you both successfully fed after ... and to know they still look fab gives me a huge boost after the sorry state I was left in before I had them done!! The things we endure for our squibs ... !!
My nips were inverted before surgery but corrected themselves after so will be interesting to see how that affects feeding this time :) Ty so much for taking the time to reply!!

This is something ive been watching out for! Had mine 6 years & now 36w with dc1. Ive had a few shows of colostrum so praying they work!

At last! I've been asking this for ages! I've had a full uplift too (anchor scar) so worrying about that, but I do have full nipple sensitivity so hoping it will be ok?

They do look pretty massive at the moment!

14+1

(sorry should have said, I've had my implants for 5 years) got them after bfeeding DC1 & DC2 without issue.

I've been waiting for this too, had over the muscle implants almost 5 years ago. Im 31 weeks and have had some leakage so I'm hoping they work! I have reduced sensation in my nipples now so I don't know if that's a positive or negative if I'm trying to bf! Anyone else had over the muscle and bf fine? Xx

blackwidow74 · 19/01/2015 19:05

Yea I need to go get measured ... They were the first thing to swell lol ... !! No signs of leakage yet but I didn't with any of my others until last minute so I'm hoping it's all good under the hood ... so glad I asked now :)

I think if nipple sensation is reduced it would be more a case of needing to ensure a good latching on and keeping a close eye for issues? Though I'm hoping that too will help with the old 'toughening' days when they get really sore a few days in Grin

Yeah I was hoping the same that it won't be as painful while they're toughening! Hurry up baby now! Feels like I've been pregnant forever xx
