I'm 4 weeks +3 and experiencing some intense hunger pangs! So intense they wake me up on a morning. I'm trying to satisfy the pangs but am concerned about overeating and really don't want to put on an excessive amount of weight.
Anyone had experience with this sort if thing and have any advise? Thanks SmileCake

Eat! I ended up eating cereal at 4am
In first trimester most mornings. Ignoring it will just make you feel sick. Try to eat small regular healthy meals but don't panic if your diet isn't great. I felt like I ate constantly in first trimester and I've only put on 4lbs (16 wks)

I was starving through the first trimester. Just go with it, your body is telling you that it needs the extra fuel as its doing so much to make your little baby Smile

I found protein helped fill me up more than anything. Mini babybels were my best friend for about 8 weeks!

Thanks!
Really fancy cereals this morning but no milk in the fridge :0 Disaster!! A walk out in the snow to the corner shop it is. Smile

I don't stop eating all day.

It's 9:51am and I have eaten a bowl of crunchy nut, garlic olives and pasta!!

Eat... if your hungry your body needs food! I had crazy hunger for the first couple of weeks which then turned into an inability to eat anything but mouse sized portions until I was about 16 weeks! I'm 39 weeks tomorrow now and its come back with avengence!! I cant stop eating and generally wale up at about 5am with hunger pangs! ... Its all normal so just follow your body and try to have healthy snacks! :)

I was the same, at 7 weeks onwards I was getting up at 3am for peanut butter on toast! I found that if I didnt eat when my body was asking for it, I was sick through feeling hungry. So if you want to eat, just eat!

From 12 to around 18 weeks I didnt have much of an appetite at all, but that all settled and I'm back to my normal eating routine at 22 weeks.

I'm a firm believer in your body telling you what to do, so as long as you're being healthy, go with it!!

If you're worried of overeating or gaining too much weight try to go for fruit when you know you've had your meal and shouldn't be hungry. They really do the trick for me! There are plenty of good stuff tasting delicious out there now. Clementines, Sharon fruit, small apples and pears are best at the moment! I got tempted to buy Israeli strawberries cause they looked amazing and did smell great.. But tasted like potatoes :). So try to stick to local produce or things from not too far away.

I have just eaten the best spicy chicken and jalapeño wrap in the world. Before that I ate the best grapefruit in the world.

I'm either so turned off by food I start vomiting, or it's delicious. Grin

I've been like this all the way through. Especially in the mornings, I wake up starving. It gets less as the day goes on though. Having never had a hint of nausea or sickness, it's never had any impact on my appetite. I wouldn't worry too much though. Despite being starving and eating loads, I've gained very little weight. Now 30 weeks!

I am 18wks and have been starving since 9/10wks. Gained about 6-7kg over starting weight.....am trying not to overeat but failing miserably. Discussed with midwife but she didn't have any useful advice really apart from eat more fruit and veg which didnt reLly help. Problem is poor sleep, night time toast and general munching. I wish fruit filled me up but i eat minimum 5 per day ( more like 8-10 at mo) plus everything else! Am just greedy though really.

I have to eat in the middle of the night every night because I wake up with horrid hunger pains and if I ignore them I pay for it in the morning. The eating is more or less incessant but what can we do? It seems it's normal :)
