Hi all, I'm 11+2w and had a ready meal from M&S about 3h ago - chicken satay, 1 day past best before day. Felt quite queasy all of a sudden and it just came all back. (Oh, I also had 2 handfuls of pistachios after that meal).

I feel much better now but wondering if it be dangerous for the baby? Not sure if there was smth bad in the food or if maybe I simply didn't chew it properly so caused indigestion. Anyways, I'm wondering if I should call my consultant??

I'm not a HCP. But as I understand it, babies are little survivors and will be fine . Soem women are sick often during pregnancy and while it's terrible for them, the baby is OK . So just being sick once or twice won't harm your baby

If you get a bad dose of D and V you need to make sure you don't get dehydrated . So remember to drink some water so your pee is still pale yellow

Just had another session hugging the toilet.. Can't believe how much food was inside me disgusting Only hoping this isn't a food poisoning. Feeling a relief now again and hope that will be it. I'm beating myself up for having eaten a ready meal (esp past bb date!!) while we normally cook everything fresh. Just tonight when DH is away I decided to be lazy.. :((

Don't panic Sue - I'm 32/40 and still being sick on a fairly regular basis. Oh, and my diet is crap at the moment as there are loads of things that bring it on.

As my midwife says, in the nicest way, babies are parasites. They will take what they need and mum has to settle for whatever is left.

Just make sure you take your pregnancy vitamins and eat what you can stomach. Hope you start to feel better soon Thanks

I actually never had morning sickness, that's the thing. Felt a bit queasy every now and then but never threw up. So it's definitely because of the food this time. Just had round 3, but mostly water I drank after round 2 was coming up with some leftovers of food. If it goes on I will call my consultant, I'm worried sick there is some nasty bacteria inside of me :((( And scared cause I'm alone tonight too. Sad

I had really nasty food poisoning when pregnant with DS3 for over a week. I finally had to have antibiotics to clear it up. I didn't realise I was pregnant at the time. DS3 was fine.

If you puked then your body has done its stuff and got rid of the bad stuff (if there was any bad stuff). I expect your consultant wont worry unless you get severe d&v. What you are worrying about is salmonella or some such bacteria getting in your system i assume, one that can negatively affect the pregnancy? Maybe call to get reassurance but i doubt they will do anything unless you have worse symptoms that extend over 24hrs. ie not keeping water down, severe diarrhoea something that indicates you have a potential infection in your system.. Try not to worry too much.

Thanks everyone for your answers and words of reassurance! I slept for ca 3h, then woke up again feeling queasy. Had some water and it all came up again. But feeling much better now. Might go for a scan to make sure my baby is ok in the morning.

It's only really dangerous if you don't keep your fluid intake up otherwise your baby's pretty cushioned in there

Maybe you've taken an intolerance to nuts in pregnancy? I'm the same with milk now! Never had a problem with it until I was pregnant, now the stuff just makes me vom.

Hope you feel better soon xx

I think you might get some strange looks if you asked for a scan just because you've been sick.
Many many women are sick every day in their first trimester. It couldn't be more normal.

SueV14 · 14/01/2015 12:00

Gudgyx I hope not cause I quite like nuts! Often add them to my salads and as a snack in between too! I think I just had too much in one day. However just put them all out of sight cause can't even look.

luckiestgirl I had no morning sickness so far and I'm almost 12w, it was definitely a food poisoning.

Spoke with my consultant and she said bed rest, only tiny amounts of water/tea all day to restore liquids and nothing but dry toast to eat. As long as there'll be no further vomiting, diah. or fever the baby should be fine. I don't feel nauseous anymore but totally drained and flabby. And my face is full of tiny black dots! #notpretty
