....and I've lost my letter. I know I have to fast and drink nothing but water from a certain time tonight, but I can't remember when. Appointment is at 9.30am in case that makes a difference?

Hello! Nothing but water for the 12 hours before the test. good luck! xx

CherryLips1980 · 12/01/2015 13:58

Brilliant! Thank you ever so much!

Will keep my fingers crossed that my blood behaves Wink DD is coming with me though (dumbass here forgot to book her in an extra day in nursery) so I'm now panicking about how I'm going to entertain an 14mo for (at least!) 4 hours in a hospital....

Do you have to take your own lucozade? I did. Maybe get a 500ml bottle just incase. Original flavour.

I had to limit the water I drank from 7am as you don't want a stomach full of water at test time as it will dilute the glucose drink.

If I remember right (ds is only 5 months so should still be valid) I wasn't allowed to have chewing gum or mints in that 12hours before. They asked as soon as i walked into waiting room.

skyra13 · 12/01/2015 17:27

I had mine done today nothing from 10pm but sips of water.
Its a boring 2 hours wait an they wouldn't let me leave hospital so take something to read! :)
Was also told to carry on drinking water while I wait.
The drink kind of reminded me of when you make jelly before it sets lol
If you are 28 weeks and not had your routine blood done yet at the midwife they may do them there to I had mine done.

Is it only two hours?! Excellent, I had it in my head it was 4. Thank you Grin

I started my test at 9am (fasting blood), then I had to drink lucozade(they supplied it but it was flat), had another test 1 hour later at 10am and final test at 11am. Fasting (no food/drinks other than limited water for 12 hours before test). I'm due to get my results tomorrow.

Take something to eat for afterwards!! Take something quite big! I was nearly fainting when they took my second set of bloods and starving when it was all done.

CherryLips1980 · 12/01/2015 21:30

Thank you! I had the test with DD (b. Nov '13) but can't remember what happened!

I'll have snacks for DD with us but I suspect that won't cut it by the time we come out ;) There's an M&S on the way home, I may buy a pack (or two...) of Percy Pigs misses point of GTT testing

Definitely take something for yourself. I always feel tight when I pinch ds's snacksGrin!

I had mine last week. My appointment was at 9.15 am and I wasn't allowed to eat OR drink from 9pm the night before Hmm. Mine was only 2 hours between the first blood test and the (surprisingly tasty) glucose drink and the next blood test. Hope it all goes well for you Smile
