braxton hicks - does everyone get them?

I'm 31 weeks now and pretty sure I haven't experienced braxton hicks contractions yet. When do they usually start and should everyone have them?

I never experienced ANY with my 1st 2nd and 3rd, this time around Ive had them since about 33 weeks and they're actually painful, usually they don't hurt tho. X

bagofsnakes · 11/01/2015 09:48

For me they started in the second trimester, faded for a while and then came back full force a couple of weeks before I gave birth. Second pregnancy seems to be going much the same way. First time around I was so used to them that I mistook the first couple of hours of labour for more of the same.

All that said a good friend of mine who was a couple of months ahead of me in her first pregnancy didn't feel any at all so I think it's really down to the individual.

JennyBlueWren · 11/01/2015 10:17

I didn't realise I was having them until I mentioned to a colleague about how it feels like baby's pressing up against the top of my bump and she said that is was probably BH. I thought they were meant to feel like contractions so painful but this isn't -more just uncomfortable.

I'm 34 weeks btw and only been getting that for a couple of weeks.

HollyBen · 11/01/2015 10:28

I didn't have any with DD. Currently 33 weeks with DC2 and haven't had any so far

eurochick · 11/01/2015 10:29

I didn't have any.

NaiceNickname · 11/01/2015 10:32

Not with my first pregnancy, but had tons with my second and they were actually quite painful at times Hmm

mum2benicole · 11/01/2015 10:41

Im 22 wks with 2nd and mine started 2 days ago im not sure when they started with 1st tho :-)

Redhead11 · 11/01/2015 10:48

Never had any during either pregnancy

BabyOnBoob · 11/01/2015 10:52

My bh hurt more than early labour cramps. I had to breathe through them! Mine happened late on as I actually thought it was starting.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 11/01/2015 10:56

I never had one.

ILiveOnABuildsite · 11/01/2015 11:41

As far as I know never had them with my first pregnancy. This time (2nd) I have had 3-4 every evening for the past 2 weeks, not painful as such but definitely very uncomfortable for me. I'm only 25 weeks now!

rubyboo2 · 11/01/2015 15:12

Hi OP had them in all 3 pregnancies . 1st time prob around 20 wks, 2nd 14 wks and this one 16 wks. They dont hurt are just uncomfortable . I got them earlier in subsequent pregnancies . I get them all the time now at 36 wks . x

AuditAngel · 11/01/2015 22:46

Been pregnant 3 times, never had BH.

Dogsmom · 11/01/2015 22:51

I'm another who didn't have any with my first but have had a few with this one, I'm 33 weeks and get them maybe every 10 days or so.

leanne963 · 11/01/2015 22:53

Can someone explain to me what they feel like? I have no idea what they would feel like so don't know if I have had any?! Thank you :)

Pancakeflipper · 11/01/2015 22:53

I join the never had one club for any of my pregnancies.

Wigeon · 11/01/2015 22:55

Didn't with DD1, did with DD2, they were unmistakable. Bump went rock solid. Was quite peculiar!

BigCatFace · 11/01/2015 22:59

35 weeks and nope for me.

catnip85 · 12/01/2015 18:08

I'm also curious, what do they feel like...? I'm 23 wks and have been getting some weird cramping occasionally, like the baby is pushing outwards/in an awkward position. Always subsides after a min or two
