Measuring a month ahead but growth scan not for another 4 weeks??

Just had an appt with registrar - was supposed to be with consultant to agree ELCS but that didn't happen (that's a whole other thread) but he measured baby as 36 weeks when I'm only 32. He's said I should have a growth scan at 36 weeks to 'help the case for an ELCS decision' but surely this is either a case for concern or it's not, it's not something that should just be used as a bargaining tool??? Does this seem odd to anyone else? What are the implications of a big baby - are they likely to want to section earlier (I won't have induction because of how previous birth went) or is it just a matter of monitoring until birth?

My last appointment I was told I was measuring a month ahead but scan shows baby is equal to dates ... The measurements are variable as even baby laying in a certain position can add/take away weeks ... I would try not to stress and if an ELCS is already in discussion then the scan is just to reaffirm ... do you see midwife before the next scan?

The ELCS was supposed to be agreed today by the consultant. Now I've been told that I'll have the scan and then another appt with the consultant at 36 weeks to discuss the request. It's been a farce actually which considering when I did see the consultant last time she told me that she just wanted me to do the VBAC reading and if I was still confirmed about an ELCS at the 32 week appt (today) then it would be confirmed. Now I feel like I'm back to the start again. And the delay before the scan is irritating - did you have your scan quite soon after the measurement being taken? Am planning to call the cons secretary tomorrow to see if I can get an earlier appt or scan.

I'm in Ireland and go private so I see my consultant and get a scan at every visit. He starts measuring the baby's weight at 28 weeks but only every 4 weeks as he says scans are not accurate and measuring every fortnight wouldn't give much insight into actual size so it seems normal to not measure again for 4 weeks.

Bummer that you were geared up for a decision on section today and didn't get it though, that's hard to deal with.
