i'm 7 wks pregnant, and when i got an internal scan at 6 wks, the dr noticed there was blood in the uterus. He said there was a slight risk of miscarriage as the body may think it's a foreign object and want to abort. So he has put me on progesterone tablets, and ordered rest as much as possible and no picking up of DS (16mths). He did a blood test and found my progesterone levels were at the lowish end (i think they mentioned 12). do you think he is being extra cautious? When I was pregnant with my first, I did have bleeding at one stage - and when i called the clinic the midwife said it's normal and probably old blood.

Anyone else have similar experiences to this?

12 is pretty low, so I think your doctor is probably wise to take no chances. You might not need them, but why risk it? I was on progesterone support till 10 weeks pg, but thats because I had fertility treatment...still, when I had some bleeding and my progesterone was below 20, they increased the dose to be safe.

That said, I had some blood in my uterus first pg too - (I was scanned at 6 weeks after some bleeding) and eventually it came out at around 10 weeks. No problems, and no extra progesterone - just extra worry

thanks eliboo - you're right, it's good to be overcautious. yes extra worry definitely!
