jabberwocky-did you have unprotected intercourse while breast feeding?

No, because, the thing is, you really never know when you'll get your cycle back. And of course you'll ovulate first which means there's that small chance of another BFP before you're ready. I'm thinking of getting an IUD this time around.

Clairemf - is there a reason you ask? It's just I did (have unprotected sex while bfing), and now I'm 6 months pregnant. I'd had one period but then nothing, although at that time I wasn't pg, just assumed it would take a while for my cycle to get back to normal. Still, at least I'll be virtually period-free for like 3 years now!

with ds feeding twice a day until 13mths, mine returned around 9/10mths
with dd around 7/8mts about 6weeks after stopping.

My periods came back 6 weeks into breastfeeding., i bf for 17 months and was a regular as clockwork!

Depends from person to person. Mine came back when I finished b/f with ds1 and 2 (about 10 months) and at 14 months with dd, although she had started sleeping through at about the same age, so could have been due to this. No sign of them with ds3 and he's 12 months and feeding at night still.

I breastfed my first daughter for 3 years, and until i stopped feeding her she woke up every night for a feed,i did not have a period until i stopped.I got pregnant 2 months later. With my second daughter i breastfed for 2 years, but she stopped waking for a night feed at 6 weeks and fed later on more as a comfort thing and not so often as my first daughter.I started my periods after 6 months. The health visitor told me you have to breastfeed yery often to keep up the production of hormones that stop your periods.
