So I have stocked up on size 1 nappies in the asda baby event but just seen that tesco have 2 jumbo packs (74 x2) nappies for 15 quid - usually 12 each. I don't know whether to get size 2 or 3 or how long the average baby is in each size....help!!

Thank you! I think I will do that, can't go wrong then! I like to be organised but don't want to be left with lots of unused products Smile

I only used size one for a couple of weeks, perhaps three weeks with DD as she was smaller and had skinny little legs at first. I would get size 2, you will probably use that size for at least six weeks. Nappies have offers on them very often, I wouldn't amass a huge stockpile before your baby is born. Size 4 is the size you are likely to use for the longest period of time.

Used 1 pack of size 1. Of 30ish. Moved 2 used 2 boxes. 3 was longer.

Don't worry about stock up on too many. Asda and tesco have them every 3ish months. I stick up enough for 6weeks at a time.

Also be aware different brands suit different babies - so I wouldn't stock up on one brand in any size, just small packs of a few brands and see how they are on your baby. Last thing you want is mountains of nappies that don't suit your LO and leak every time.

Getting my first nappies in my Tesco shop later today and I think I went for a size 0 or something! Ooops. Luckily only got one of Tescos and one of Pampers. Will get size 1 in the next shop.

ZenNudist · 03/01/2015 12:27

I think you've got enough for now. Just no need to stockpile. You really do need to test them out before buying loads.

I think I got a few packs in of size 1 and despite ds2 being quite large at birth we were in that size for maybe 4 weeks or more. The size up just leaked for being huge.

I suggest trying Aldi ones as well as they're very cheap and good. I find that newborn nappies are always going to leak as they do such liquid poo.

Ds1 got pampers all the time. Ds2 got a mix of Aldi and tesco own brand with some pampers for nighttime. I also took back a few packs to Aldi and changed them for the size up because I'd bought them fairly recently.

Quite excited at Tesco delivery with nappies (size newborn!), wipes, cotton wool and nappy bags!
EEK!

Meplusyouequals4 · 03/01/2015 16:22

Buy as many as you want but keep your receipt as you can return them to tesco up to 6 months later as long as your only swapping them for a different size and they are completely sealed and undamaged

My DD nearly six weeks old and still in size 1. She was 8lb 9oz at birth so not a small baby by any means. We're going through a pack of 43 roughly every 3 days atm.

Dogsmom · 03/01/2015 20:59

I agree with another poster that different brands suit different shaped babies, I went a bit ott and stocked up with Morrisons only to find they leaked around her legs and the Aldi ones fitted better so I ended up giving them to a friend.

This time I have one pack of Tesco newborn ones and am waiting to see if they fit before I buy any more.

I've always been pleased with Pampers too as they're much softer that other brands but also twice the price so I only get them if they're on offer.

Thanks everyone, you have given me lots to think about that hadn't even crossed my mind!!

I've always found pampers and sainsbury own brand excellent. Johnson products all give dd a rash. Good luck!

Worth keeping an eye on Amazon too - you get really good offers on there from time to time for pampers.

FruitBadger · 05/01/2015 15:16

DS is 5 weeks old and was on size 1s for the first 3 weeks, he was 8lb 14oz.

BikeRunSki · 05/01/2015 17:06

Stop stocking up on nappies! Different brands/shapes/sizes/ttoes suit different babies. You may end up sticking up on nappies that give your baby nappy rash and leak on them.

There are always nappy offers on somewhere.
