Not extortionately expensive co sleeper cot

Anyone know of a any not super expensive co sleeper cots? Would love something like the baby bay but is far too dear

You can hire a bednest via NCT. It's about £100 for six months (+ whatever mattress you want). I really loved the bednest, we were lent one, and it was brilliant.

I found one new on eBay with bedding etc for £63 think it's from Germany it's a bedside crib .

I'm considering it for my Ds

we used a normal one and removed one side.
tied it with cable ties to our bed.

We're just using the normal cot, with one side off, pushed up against the side of our bed. Works well for us.

We got a John Lewis Troll crib on eBay for £60.

We bought an ikea cot, took the side off, put the base level with the mattress and tied it to the frame of our bed. However, you do need to ensure there are no gaps for the baby to be trapped in. We bought a foam wedge to act as a block between the cot and bed (cut to size) and a firm foam overlay that overlapped the cot and bed. Made breastfeeding a breeze. I literally rolled over.

Alternatively, buy a single mattress, relegate your bedstead to the attic and camp out on both mattresses. Baby has own space and no problems rolling off the bed. Again, plug any gaps, especially between the mattress and the wall. Towels work.

I had a bednest and it was brilliant. Great travel cot too.

When no longer needed, I sold it for full price on eBay - that was pretty much guaranteed then due to waiting lists for them. So it really cost me nothing!

Check if there's still waiting lists, and if there are, I'd definitely say buy one, you won't regret it.

Another vote for the bednest. We rented it too. It went back a few days ago and I was sad to see it go!

We had a Saplings Space Saver cot (limited space in our room) - took off the dropside and lashed it to our bedframe. Luckily the mattresses ended up being the same height, but otherwise we would just have made an extra set of holes to adjust. Pushed the cot mattress up against ours and stuffed a rolled up towel down the gap on the other side. Perfect.

I do not understand with these 3 sided cots how do you then solve daytime naps or anytime baby is sleeping when you are not around.
Do you just let it sleep in the cot with no wall anyway or do you have other crib and then move it into bedside cot once you go to bed?

Zahrah they have 4th side which folds down (like a drawbridge I think) which also stops any gap between bed and crib.

We're actually having a separate moses basket to have downstairs to avoid carrying around.

Well I think it is quite unlikely that a baby that small is going to manage to move/roll across an entire double bed - but we had a video monitor anyway, for when we weren't in the room too. DS slept downstairs in the Moses basket during the day until 6m, because he was prem and diddy so he didn't outgrow it until that point.

We've hired the bednest too. It has worked well for us.

For daytime naps she usually sleeps in the living room rather than the bednest. The bednest has one side that comes down completely and another that can be put halfway down. It is a work of seconds to change the heights do you can put them up for naps if you have an early roller, but we have never needed to yet.

We had the German eBay one and it was excellent.

After 6 mths of co sleeping We converted the normal cot bed but eventually put that back in spare room and used a brio bedside cot (secondhand) when older baby started in own room and came in during night.

Wish I had sidecarred a cot from day one.

You can Google side car cot and make your own. If space use a cot bed. If not lots of space saver cots around.

sockmatcher this is our 3rd and we have always ended up co sleeping at some point hence just deciding that a co sleeper cot would be worth it. I had seen the German ones on ebay so am glad to hear of a good review for that.
Where do I find out if there is a waiting list for the bednest?

I would look for an Arms Reach Co-sleeper (not the mini) from ebay in the UK or get one new from the US where they are cheaper (we found one new from Target for $150). They are brilliant and took ours from birth as a co-sleeper, then a bassinet, then cot and travel cot until over 2 years each time.

Yes our next one is my 3rd.. Co sleeping cot plus superking! Beds become very important when sleep is so limited!

I found the babybay was much cheaper from Amazon.de when we were looking? No import tax as coming from Germany and delivery was reasonable.
We've rented a bednest and I'm glad we've got it, but I find the bridge bit that covers the gap really annoying.

I'll probably import an arms rest co sleeper from the US if I have dc3. They are much cheaper there so I will use then resell on ebay here to make my money back. I borrowed one recently with dc2 and they are collapsible like a travel cot which works for us as we travel a lot as expats.

We bought a bednest on eBay and they retain their value well, so we will resell when we're finished using it, and hopefully it won't have cost us much. Very pleased with it!
