Midwife appointment

I went and registered with a new doctors today and mentioned about being pregnant and having a midwife appointment in a few weeks. She tried to book me in for one next week when il be roughly 6 weeks but I thought people didn't really have them until 9-10 weeks? x

Depends on the surgery and how busy they get. Mine only runs 1 clinic day each fortnight so you have to be quick to get an appointment when you can.

I got one at what we thought was 7 weeks (really only 5). Was for all the paperwork stuff. Depends on your area.

You might As well get booked in now..worth getting in early! once you are they can book your 12wk scan.

I gt booked in at 9 weeks and almost missed the Nuchal cut off as the only scan I could get was almost 14wks..

Ah okays. I just thought it was meant to be 8 weeks. I think il get in there early :) does everyone take their other half with them to the appointment? Mine really wants to come but because he's self employed grounds worker if he dosnt work he dosnt earn and id rather he works. What do people usually do? x

No need to take partner particularly..other than for his family medical history which they do ask for..but i imagine you can answer that at a later date if you are not sure of answers..
Nice for him to go if he wants to but not neccesary..better to take time off for the scans!

My surgery gave me my pack before the appointment and there was a list in there of the pages I should read through and start to fill out in advance of the appointment. If you can't take your partner it's worth getting medical history of any hereditary conditions running in his side of the family, or any history he has of hearing problems.

Just jumping onto this thread as I also have questions about my midwife appointment!

I guess things have been delayed due to Christmas / New Year, soy booking in appointment isn't until 28 January. This will make me 12wks and 6 days.

Now I'm really worried about my 12 week scan - don't I need to have that by 13weeks 6days?

I can't imagine they'll squeeze me in the next week. Should I ring them and ask? They did include a leaflet about scans and years they do but pretty sure I won't be getting my scan at the same time!

I would def ask about the scan shantotto that seems late to me! We were told 9 weeks for booking in here. Don't think any need to take partner as long as you know their medical history.

You don't really need your partner for midwife appointments, I've got four dcs and dh made it to one midwife appointment with dc2.

They will ask about his family medical.history but at my surgery they give you the yellow book.when.you make the appointment so I always filled it in at home.

I would def call them now about the scan Shantoto. Where I am they can't book you in without having done the booking spot first but that might not be the same where you are.
If it comes to it though and you miss the nuchal cut off they can give you a seperate test a couple of weeks later that gives you the odds a different way..
Or you might not be bothered about the nuchal at all in which case you can have first scan at any point I think!
