Wow pearl, how lovely! We did St Lucia 2 years ago which was amazing.

All went well with scan, missy was in right position so was really quick. Have been feeling more 'pops' & 'doofs' & felt a pretty big one a short while ago! Dh put hand on my tummy but all quiet. I don't think he'd be able to feel it through my tummy yet though.

DH was talking to some mutual friends of ours & they're on waiting list for Ivf & are being treated by our consultant! Dh talked to the female friend & filled her in on our situ. It's like a real life berry!! We're all going out next Friday so if she wants to talk about it I could. Coincidentally she's also a teacher! I don't think teaching helps fertility, too much stress! Perhaps that's an oversimplification but I'd be interested to see data on infertile couples & their jobs. They actually paid for a laparascopy to avoid the wait & then get on to Ivf quicker. We waited for ours & she had same consultant but in private hospital, it cost £3k! But they see it as they're getting the Ivf free on nhs so they didn't mind paying for the lap. I'm really interested to catch up with her.

pearlcrystal · 23/03/2015 15:59

bushy so glad all went well with the scan. Can't wait to start feeling the little pops and doofs.
I'm sure your friends will be greatly encouraged by your story. I never wanted to go down the ivf route (hence resisted it for 3 years) but having my sister in law conceive on their first attempt and have a gorgeous little boy was a more convincing argument to me than any statistic that could be put in front of me. As it happened we didn't need it in the end when miracle warrior embryo turned up after 5 years, but it was what made me reconsider so I think your friends will really appreciate chatting to you.

Do I remember correctly that you had issues with sizing on a pair of hm maternity jeans? I've had the same experience - I've been a size 6-8 in every other maternity brand however in hm even the size 10 skinny jeans felt kind of tight and uncomfortable (I think the cut makes a difference too as the straight leg were not nearly as bad as I am pretty thigh heavy) so I am sure that they're cut a lot tighter than the others.

FluffyNut · 23/03/2015 19:47

hello ladies. sorry i've been quiet for a while, bit really had a lot to report and have been just enjoying reading everyone's news.
Hi,Chloe, wrote wow,you are super close.it seems like ages away for me but I'm trying not to wish away time.

Pearl, your holiday sounds amazing.next week I'm off to Devon for a week with dh, sil, bil, and 3nephews/niece.we've been away before the 7 of us and it'll be a nice break.fingers crossed for sunshine.

Beard, awesome news on the scan and for feeling your doufs! I'll let you know when I've had them.
I also paid private for lap and dye and ivf was straight away after. we were very lucky and caught first time.

feather and rp, I am in awe of you as you sound like pro's already! Hope you're both doing ok and trying to capture the moment.

lady, glad you are happy with the nursery.mw suggested we start looking and that kind of freaked me out!

we had our 16 wk midwife appt on Friday and I heard the heart beat for the first time. queue silent tears again! it was so amazing! mw thinks it's a boy because the heart beat was a train not a horse (anyone else had that?) I'm happy whatever we have. so, because we're feeling a bit reassured everything is ok, we made our first purchases, of which one was a Cath Kidston changing bag! dh bought for (me) the baby ð???
Hope everyone else is ok and sorry if I've missed you, just trying to remember everyone whilst updating on the phone x

RevoltingPeasant · 23/03/2015 21:02

Hello all :)

Fluffy my GP said the HB thing is a myth. Will be interested to see if yours proves tight though? Do you have a preference?

Pearl lucky you!!

Bushy DH first felt the HB at about 24 w iirc. It takes a while though, as so often they kick just once!

Deffo not a pro, by any stretch! But it is lovely and I cannot wait for all you all to have yours. Dodo has been poorly following her first lot of jabs, but then slept 6 hours straight last night! She has started making little cooing noises, and will say "ah" back to you if you say it to her a few times. She is 2 mos old today :)

greatbigbushybeard · 23/03/2015 21:20

pearl I totally had problems in their maternity jeans. Bought my normal size which was fine in early pregnancy & then they were uncomfortable & the waist band really dug in. They were skinny jeans. Other people have said that their sizes come up small too. I have since bought a pair of straight leg jeans from jojo maman bebe & through are the most comfy thing ever !! Living in those & leggings come the w/e.

Arrr dodo is soooo sweet!! So glad she had a good sleep, 6 hours is amazing. Interesting re the kicks. I'll be 23 weeks this week.

fluffy it'll be interesting to see if the heartbeat theory works out. Now I know ours is a girl I'm going to listen carefully to see if it sounds like galloping hooves at next mw appt. my friend got given a cath kids ton changing bag & loves it.

It's really interesting with our friends & the Ivf. I know it would have really helped me to know other people in real life. V interesting that you didn't need it in the end pearl & interesting fluffy paid for lap and then caught on first Ivf. I hope that happens for our friends as we all know just how shitty infertility is.

Had parents eve 2 tonight. The parents have been informed about my pregnancy & maternity leave. Lots of them congratulated me tonight & were really lovely. 2 of my children made me little congratulations cards, v sweet!!

pearlcrystal · 24/03/2015 06:05

Just popping by very quickly to share a pregnancy yoga youtube discovery:
m.youtube.com/watch?v=vOHFE3huhOQ

It's not the best made video by any stretch of the imagination, but it has helped massively with my aching back.

rp Dodo is beautiful - so alert and sweet. Oh, I do love seeing the berry babies, makes me all the more broody.

chloechloe · 24/03/2015 08:58

Keep the cute pictures coming rp - I can't believe she's 2 months already! It must be so sweet to see how quickly they develop from one week to the next!

Not so convinced about the heartbeat thing fluffy, but I love the fun of guessing from the various old wives' tales! FWIW we're having a girl and the doppler tends to sound like a horse now that I think about it!

I'm sure you're hugely missed at school bushy - so sweet of the kids to make you cards! Hopefully your friends will have a short journey to their BFP, it'll be a big help being able to talk to somebody else who's been through a similar thing.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday pearl - which island are you on? We went a few years ago and I have such lovely memories of riding round La Digue on battered old bicycles and checking out all the amazing beaches!

Re books for after the birth, I bought Baby Love by Robin Barker which is nice and detailed and goes through the baby's first year in stages, covering pretty much everything from feeding, sleeping, illnesses, safety, equipment and suitable activities. It seems to have a good index as well, so will probably be good for looking things up in due course!

Not long to go until your 20w scan - I really enjoyed mine, it's amazing how much you get to see!

We're booked in to deliver at our local hospital. It's only a 10min walk away and has one of the best maternity and neonatal units in the area, so it was a bit of a no brainer really just in case there are any problems. I'm desperately hoping for a natural birth as I'm a total control freak and the thought of having an epidural and not being able to walk completely freaks me out. I live in Germany where they're pretty anti pain relief anyway - where I'm going the options seem to be homeopathy or epidural!!!

Am starting to panic that I may have to be induced though which I want to avoid at all costs. DD was yesterday - check up showed baby's heartbeat was great, but zero contractions and there isn't a massive amount of amniotic fluid. They tend to consider induction after 6 days, but I think I'll push for them to keep monitoring me and to hold off as long as there's no risk to the baby. Cross your fingers for me!

Pixie001 · 24/03/2015 09:43

Ooh Chloe, so close now! Rp..2 mths, you sure?? Crazy how time flies for other people but not yourself. Been waiting forever for scan but now it's coming up I'm bricking it all over again! SIL lent me her dopler on Sun and got HB. Definitely galloping horse. Told DH about the train/horse thing last night. He said what's the difference in noises anyway and proceeded to do horse vs train noises. He concluded he heard a train always hears what he wants to hear Wink.

ladybunnikins · 24/03/2015 10:24

My DH commented at the 25 week appointment that the HB sounded like a train and we're having a girl.
Come on, baby Chloe! 6 days over is pretty early for induction, unless Germany bases due dates on a 41 week pregnancy like the French do?
Good luck with all the 20 week scans coming up!
Wino, if you're lurking, I hope you're doing OK, I saw your thread in infant feeding. I really want to BF but I'm really not looking forward to it, I don't think I know anyone on baby #1 who has had an easy time with it in the first stages.
Is there anyone who is not on the FB berry group who wants to join?

chloechloe · 24/03/2015 12:55

lady Here they calculate 40w as well. They said they consider induction from days 6 to 10, on the basis they don't want you to go 2 weeks over and induction could still take 3 days to delivery... Get a wiggle on please little girl!

RevoltingPeasant · 24/03/2015 19:48

Oooh Chloe! Hadn't realised you were so close! Best of luck :)

Lady bf is tough, no doubt about It! But so worth it. HV came today and Dodo has put on 2 lbs since birth. It is amazing to think my milk did that! Find out about bf peer support in your area in advance if you know you want to bf. You might also locate a local lactation cons. And you know Merk will be all, over the virtual support!

greatbigbushybeard · 25/03/2015 20:21

Ooh chloe that seems to have zipped by. Hope things will get moving for you. I might check out that baby book.

Does anyone know where is a good place to start with informing yourself about the whole pram/ travel system/ car seat thing? I am clueless!

Go rp with the feeding! it must make you proud. The whole pg thing is pretty amazing.

I don't do Facebook. How does the berry fb work? Does everyone use their real names/profiles?

I'm pooped today, had school trip so kids super excited.

Will check out that yoga vid pearl

pearlcrystal · 26/03/2015 03:41

chloe fingers crossed for you avoiding induction and having the birth you want. From some if the recent reading I have been doing it sounds like your readiness for birth (effacement of cervix rather than dilation) makes a big difference to how quickly you go in to labour and how successful induction is, so it might be worth checking this with your doctor perhaps?
Having said this, wanted to share with you that there are definitely good induction stories too. My mother was induced a week before her due date with my little sister, delivered 2 hours after being connected to a drip, no tearing, no instruments, no problems at all. 2 hours of labour, no pain relief and a healthy baby - what more could you wish for!

fluffy hooray for your 16 week appointment and that lovely heartbeat you heard. I thought the sound was so nice I got an at home Doppler so I can reassure myself in moments of paranoia. DH is a cardiologist and he has shown me that the sound is different dependent on Doppler positioning. So a clop-di-clop sound is when you are picking up a valve and you can hear it opening and closing, whereas the more whooshing sound is when you are picking up other parts of the circulation. It will be really interesting to hear if you MW is right though. Maybe one gender presents one way more often than the other. Will you be finding out the gender at 20 weeks?

pixie when's your 20 week scan? Fingers crossed for you.

rp that's brilliant about Dodo's weight and you're a star for persisting with the feeding

feather hope you're getting on OK.

lady 2 weeks to go till your due date - right? It must feel brilliant to know you're full termand no longer at risk of delivering early.
I would love to join the fb group - how is it done?

bushy that's so sweet about the kids making you cards and you must feel relieved that you no longer have to keep your pregnancy secret. Btw, I have come across another lovely yoga video ( this time much nicer setting).
m.youtube.com/watch?v=MCSFobwvQTg

I am counting down the weeks - 20 weeks feels like a major milestone and then 22/23 when baby can survive if born. I was reading about the earliest premmies ever to survive and there was a lovely young girl born at 21 weeks who is just graduating uni. I know she's an exception but makes me feel a lot less frightened to know that week by week I am approaching this.

pearlcrystal · 26/03/2015 04:01

One more things to add - anyone thinking of a break to warmer climates, make sure you pack plenty of mosquito repellent, apparently pg ladies are extra delicious.

FeatherFeather11 · 26/03/2015 05:29

Thinking of you chloe! I have no hints or tips re bringing on labour, except for relax. I was so wound in about dd and induction that I do wonder if that played a role in C not coming sooner. Would you consider having a sweep?

lady agree with rp - bf is not easy at all to begin with, but it does get better. If you can get through the first month and your supply is good, then you're all set. Buy shitloads of Lanisoh cream for your nips though. I was in agony for the first three weeks and was a life saver. Oh, and I think I finally want in on the fb group. Bit shy though! Blush

Re books re baby and birth. Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin is pretty out there - very 70s hippy view on birth and I did enjoy it. Although my birth ended up being as medicalised as it gets! Re baby books: the Baby Whisperer -although annoying in parts - has some amazing hints and tips that seem to work. But the BIG KAHUNA that I could not have done without is a book that was given to me as a gift called 'your baby: week by week' - Is practical and tells you lots of things you (meaning I) had/have no idea about. Also, because it's laid out week by week, it means I only have to read the chapter that relates to C a week in advance!

Exciting times in the copter - so many new arrivals SOON!! Grin Surely that means we're due a new wave of berries from the other thread soon?!

Agree with rp - deffo not a pro here! I'm five weeks in and still flapping about a bit. C has her first set of shots today and apparently they're quite full on - for TB as we live in London - so I'm dreading that!

Sorry not to name check everyone. C isn't the greatest sleeper (on her own!) yet, so am often one-handed texting. I am keeping up with all the fab news though!

OP posts:
FeatherFeather11 · 26/03/2015 05:31

Oh, and here she is at five weeks...Grin - she'd just stopped crying and was looking a bit pissed at me... Hmm

Pixie001 · 26/03/2015 07:33

Oh I do love seeing the baby pics!
Chloe are you on the raspberry leaf tea and curry yet?
I need to try out these yoga positions, thanks for the posts...although thankfully my back pain isn't so bad anymore.
Pearl 20w scan yesterday, all fine, so relieved that I shed a few quiet tears in there. Felt in a bit of a daze thinking...wow that's in me and just listening out for the words 'good' 'fine'. I also have anterior placenta bushy. And baby pixie has a smallish head but long legs!
Feather hope the shots went ok?
Pearl how your bites soon go down!
We're planning a hol mid May but not got anything booked yet. Shall be 38w any dos or don'ts? E.g. I love hot temperatures, am I likely to still love them when I'm a couple of months bigger?

ladybunnikins · 26/03/2015 09:06

Pixie great news with the scan! I assume you mean 28 weeks for the holiday, I don't think you'll want to be going far at 38 weeks! I think at 28 weeks I didn't feel too bad, bump not massive but a lot of heartburn, and I think that's about the gestation where airlines will want something from a doctor to say you're OK to fly (if you're planning to fly!). I don't think I would want to fly long haul in the third trimester, but then I swell up on flights even when I'm not pregnant. Somewhere relaxing with a pool/the sea to cool off in would be lovely! (Obviously, a decent hospital not too far away would also be a consideration, and good medical insurance.)
Feather she is very cute! Hope she's OK after the jabs, mine will have to have TB too (DH is from India).
Pearl I used to do that too with the counting down the weeks to viability and then looking at survival rates for each gestation, yes it's nice to be past 37 weeks! The insect bites sound horrible, when I came back from the Maldives I was covered in bites and I wasn't even pregnant.
RP yes, I've checked out the local BF support groups and it seems pretty good, I think I have the experience of one particular friend in mind who did manage to stick with it until nearly 2 but in the early stages her nipples were so bad they were nearly dropping off (as described by her MW recently, she's expecting #2 and that's how the MW remembers her!)
Bushy I think I've written stuff about pushchairs on here before. I got a lot of useful info from here especially the posts by Tiggywunkle who I think is involved in this website .
The key things are deciding what is important to you, e.g. parent facing, off road capability, easy fold, small, lightweight, fits in a car boot, fits on public transport, ability to carry a car seat.
You need to try some out (try folding/unfolding, lifting, doing up the straps, pushing on pavements/up curbs with some weight in them, attaching carrycot/car seat) in places like mothercare/M&P/babies r us/john lewis/the baby show.
For car seats, it depends if you want an infant carrier that can be lifted out/attached to a pushchair or one of the extended rear facing seats that stays in the car but lasts until about age 4. The infant carriers can be fitted using the car seat belt or using isofix, but if you're using isofix you also need to factor in the cost of the isofix base. (The bases are usually brand-specific, so that might influence your choice of car seat at the next stage.)
For the pushchair, I've bought the baby jogger versa GT (pros: great fold, parent facing, tyres that go off road but don't puncture, high handle, big basket, cons: heavy, only suitable from 6 months) along with the carrycot so it can be used from birth.
For the car seat, we bought the britax dualfix (ERF to 4 years and swivels so hopefully easier to get the child into)) which stays in the car. I had thought we would manage with one car seat and just swap it over but it is heavy and I'm sure at some point we would end up with DH taking it to work 100 miles away leaving me stuck in the house so today there is another car seat arriving, an infant carrier called the cybex aton q, bought mainly because it is bright orange!

FluffyNut · 26/03/2015 12:06

Hi all! I think someone had swapped my bra for sand paper! Can't think of any other reason why my nips are so sore!Lol

FluffyNut · 28/03/2015 11:27

oh dear, sorry if my bra comment put people off! I was just being silly and naughty update on my phone whilst sat at work. looks like I've killed Fred Sad Sad

greatbigbushybeard · 28/03/2015 12:56

Lolfluffy you and your sandy boobs!!

Thanks lady for pram pointers. We think we might dip our toe in the waters of prams next week, we thought we'd go to a kiddo care place on our way to Cardiff. We're having a break at Cardiff bay, nice spa hotel so have booked a treatment.

Am absolutely knackered today, was out last night as friends from Oz are back in town. Didn't get back til 3am- ouch!! Certainly shows you can party without alcoholic. I was v well hydrated!! Am having a v lazy day today, currently in bed on tablet after cooked breakfast. Am contemplating going back to sleep. Think it shows you that hangovers are half tiredness. Easter hols now!! Any other teacher berries feeling the love? So glad, seemed a v long term even though it was only 5 weeks.

Bumped into a girl from my pregnancy yoga class in supermarket yesterday. Kinda funny seeing her in normal clothes & not in sporty clothes! She lives nearish to me which may well be nice in future to have a baby friend. She was saying it'd be nice to all get together but it's just being brave & making the first move, also what would we all do, decaf coffees in day or out of an eve. Think wherever we went the staff would find it funny seeing all these pregnant women!!

Jelliebabe2 · 28/03/2015 13:37

Fluffynut! Lol at the sandpaper bra.... Well not for you obvs! Hope that's settled down

Bushy - Im thinking about pregnancy yoga. When did you start? I've never done yoga at all so I Dont really know what the do I'd but I've heard people rave about it.

Feather! She gorgeous! Grin

As for Prams etc I think we're going to see what we can get 2nd hand. My step sister in laws daughter (complicated no?!?!) has just had twins so they might have some things to pass on! Everything is so expensive I'll need the money to stay off work for the year (or childcare after)

We've seen a nice holiday in Crete for June. I'll be about 20 weeks. Were waiting a few more weeks though just to be sure. Can't wait though I love a lovely lazy holiday! Grin

Have a good weekend ladies x

greatbigbushybeard · 28/03/2015 16:07

Love pregnancy yoga jellie. I started at 14 weeks. I think they like you to start post first trimester. Mine is called birthlight yoga so is suitable for pg yoga with lots of breathing & moves to use before & during labour.

That'll be a good time to go on a holiday esp if you like a bit of warm weather. We're being quite boring & staying close to home, Cardiff & new forest! Not got the urge to go far away.we have done lots of far flung destinations before though.

Hope fluffy's nips aren't chafing her too much Wink

Is anyone else finding that mumsnet is crashing safari loads on the I pad? It's really annoying!!

winohhh · 28/03/2015 20:10

Just popping on to say hello!! Thanks for thinking of me lady. We're doing well thanks. The breast feeding isn't going amazingly still, but I'm trying not to let it ruin these early months. DS nearly 11 weeks old, can't believe it!! He is the cutest thing, and just started sleeping a bit better, so I'm starting to feel a bit more human again!! Good luck everyone! I hope you have sneeze like births! (Waves to RP and feather... Hope you yummy mummies are doing well!!)

RevoltingPeasant · 29/03/2015 19:35

Bushy did you download the new OS update? I did and it stopped crashing.

Chloe any news?? Checking in regularly to see :)

Jellie how are feeling? Any MS yet?
