Oh thank you everyone Grin

No need for pool - the whole thing was 90min from first contraction to birth. I basically must have had a "silent" first stage of labour, as I was lying in bed with DH shortly after midnight, feeling some "pelvic pressure" - which I now realise was contractions Shock - and then I felt like I'd suddenly wee'd myself uncontrollably, which of course was waters going.

I felt really chilled and rang the home birth MW to let her know, and she said to relax and get some kip. So we went to the other bedroom and tried to go to sleep, but within about 20min I was having really painful "pelvic pressure" and realised I wouldn't be able to sleep. I got up to pace corridor and within minutes it was just unbearable - I was throwing up, more waters were coming, there was blood, but also really bad pain. I stopped being able to keep silent and realised they were proper contractions, at which point DH pointed out that there wasn't much more than a minute between them - he'd been timing based on my moans. I suddenly started feeling I couldn't cope with just hypno breathing and so DH rang the now again and she said she'd come.

It was probably only 30-40 min or less but it just got worse and worse - I was clinging to the door jamb of our bedroom and telling DH that if this was the early part of labour, I wanted to go to hospital and have an epidural! Of course, in hindsight it was actually transition. Then I suddenly felt a massive uncontrollable spasm down below as though I was going to have a really big poo Blush and I told DH I needed to push. Thankfully after a couple of contractions with the pushing feeling the MW arrived. She tried to get me on the bed to examine me but I just fell onto my hands and knees - it was the only bearable position - and she knelt down to examine me from behind and said there's a head Shock about two pushes later I could feel her head being born, which was a huge relief, and then her shoulders came with one more.

Second degree tear which they stitched with gas and air and that was
literally the only pain relief I had bar some local anaesthetic and some paracetamol after it was all over.

Phew! The MW said it was super fast for a first timer and I should have future babies at home.....but I think we'll park that idea for the time being!!

FeatherFeather11 · 23/01/2015 15:58

Just incredible rp!! Wowowowowow! So happy for you. I'm renaming you Wonder Woman from now on. Grin

Thanks for all the detail - really interesting to read what it's actually like! Are you feeling ok now? I'm so, so thrilled for you.

(oh and I have just had a little weep reading that)

Foodylicious · 23/01/2015 16:50

Hi Bair you wont know me, but I have just read about your sickness. I was really quite sick in the early weeks, with time off work and weekly visits to the gp. Eventually the GP persuaded me to try something so I took Promethazine 25mg at bedtime. She had a read up on it first and said that if I needed to, up to 100mg was a safe dose, either all at once or spaced through the day (it is sedating though so best taken at night).

I had 6 weeks off work (was back when I was about 12 weeks I think) and was able to return within a week of starting taking them.

I am really surprised that you have not been started on something already as that is what the guidelines reccomend (cant find link just now, but will keep trying) if you have had severe sickness or HG in a previous pregnancy (to stop it getting so bad this time).

I ended up taking it through pretty mich the entire pregnancy despite tryng to come off it several times (sickness returned within a day or 2 at the most).

I could not believe how much better I felt in such a short space of time.

Was really nice being able to eat normal food. NOt just food that made 'ok sick' Grin

Hope you feel better soon, whatever you decide x

Foodylicious · 23/01/2015 16:55

Bair this is NICE guidline for 'morning'sickness
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

the bit about drugs is over half way down, but the whole thing is a good read.

Foodylicious · 23/01/2015 17:02

RP

not that you want tp think about it now, but I had a nightmare with wages at the start of my MAT leave.

The best thing I did was email salaries and wages and ask for a breakdown of how what and how they worked it all out and would do for the next 9 months. They did and it helped.

Cucaroline83 · 23/01/2015 17:20

I'm 7 weeks pregnant this is the first pregnancy that I've not been plagued with sickness, I've had two full term pregnancies and several miscarriages, I'm starting to feel panicked by this (I know I should be enjoying it)

SidneyBristow · 23/01/2015 18:36

RP
Saw your amazing news and wanted to log in to give you a massive congratulations Flowers Dorothea's delivery sounds incredible and I'm so happy for you that she's here. I've been a terrible Berry but as you'll find motherhood eats a chunk out of your computer time!!

Win massive congratulations to you too; I don't think I posted when your little one was born but I meant to and time got away from me Flowers

Gooooo Berries!!xxx

RevoltingPeasant · 23/01/2015 19:57

Thanks everybody fir kind words and congrats! Feather eek I can't believe I forgot that earlier - I think now of all times I am allowed to claim baby brain Grin - but my goodness yes, you are only about three days after me! Well, who knows.......!

greatbigbushybeard · 23/01/2015 20:40

Arr rp congratulations!!! She's absolutely lovely and a beautiful name too!! Very interesting reading your story, am a little bit in awe! Did grimace at the 2nd degree tear. When was your edd meant to be? How many weeks were you? ( taking mental notes!!)

Snuzpod looks interesting. When you want to get in and out of bed do you just push the snuzpod to one side? I'm v new to all this so are the options basically that or Moses basket and then proper crib when they are older?

Not sure if I should admit this but think my maternity jeans are tight at the top!! Bought my normal size but maybe I need next one up! Am going for a little browse tomorrow & am looking for new bras & maternity bits & bobs.

FeatherFeather11 · 23/01/2015 21:39

bushy snuzpod and bednest are pretty similar co-sleep cribs. They attach to your bed so I think the best way to get out is to shimmy around it. Not sure yet as dh is building it this weekend so will let you know how it goes! So do you think you're going to get a Doppler? I know win got one and found it really reassuring. As for bump oil: I have been using coconut oil (a bit greasy) or the Weleda pregnancy oil, which is ace. But only when I remember/can be bothered. Had no stretch marks so far until two days ago when I noticed one small reddish line.

fluffy/saz hello!! Congratulations on your wonderful news! So exciting. You've come to the right place of course - as you know, the Berries are ace!

Tallyra · 23/01/2015 23:17

Congratulations RP!!! And Win!!!

I'm sorry I've been so absent for so long - 9 months of being too busy to check up on everyone. I've been feeling guilty, but now Immi is sleeping most of the evening I will endeavour to join in and impart some hard earned knowledge if anyone is interested.

Imogen has gone from this... to this...

Aaaand now i think she's waking up...

greatbigbushybeard · 24/01/2015 13:08

I am now the proud owner of 2 of the most un sexiest, ugliest, non underwired bras ever!!

Bought some palmers stretch mark lotion as it wasn't too expensive & loved palmers as a teenager, also stopped off at mothercare & bought a lovely stripey dress/tunic and the most comfy leggings ever-yay!! It's now time for a chicken & bacon club sandwich cooked by dh- bring it on!!!

What a lovely baby & gorgeous flowery blanket tallyra. Did you buy the blanket or did someone make it?

How's our new mummy?

FeatherFeather11 · 24/01/2015 13:19

RP WOOOOOOWWWW! You amazing woman - well done you on delivering that beautiful bundle of gorgeousness to the world! Dorothea is such a great name too. Hope you're enjoying those well earned cuddles and recovering well.

Fluffy - welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy so glad you're joining us, and that you've got your long awaited BFP.

Bushy - regarding creams, there are lots of pregnancy specific brands. I don't really have a bump yet (unless you count gas) but am trying to get the skin moisturised every day in an attempt to prevent stretch marks. I've been using maternelle which is quite nice, and not expensive (I think it was about £4) , also the smell is less strong than Palmers, if you're looking for a bit of a change later. How are you finding the bras without under-wiring? I bought one light cotton bra as my boobs exploded by 2 cup sizes pretty much as soon as I did the pregnancy test, and just couldn't wear it as I could feel everything through it, so have returned to normal bras in 2 cup sizes larger.

Any strange cravings anyone's having? I have been desperate for vegetable juice from a local cafe - beet root, sweet potato, cucumber and apple. Not something I would ordinarily go for, but as it's nice and healthy, I'm not complaining, and I'm so glad that my sickness has stopped and I no longer need to eat only beige food. bair how are you getting on? Have they given you something for the nausea?

Looking at the list - it seems we've got Feather next, then a few spring cuties and then a real rush in July and August. Exciting times!

pearlcrystal · 24/01/2015 18:45

Meant to also add tallyra that your daughter is lovely!

feather bednest looks very comfy indeed and sounds like you're all ready. Fingers crossed for you that your little one arrives soon and the birth is the way you want it.

Bair · 24/01/2015 22:57

I didn't go in Pearl, I wasn't sick again last night and had a damn good day.

Of course it's all back now, I'm so sick, have heartburn and stupid stupid stupid next door neighbour who was meant to move out today has pushed back to tomorrow and is playing his stupid European rap and hoovering.

I am feeling very sorry for myself while feeling hugely guilty for hating this while it's all we've wanted for the last (feels like) million years.

Sorry for the pity party but I just want to sit and cry.
