Hello everyone. I'm waiting for my dh to hurry up & finish in the bathroom so thought I'd catch up on here.

winooh wow! what fantastic news! Making it all real for the rest of us that hopefully there will be a baby at the end of all of this. 38 weeks tho, crikey!! I told my work lot & my due date is few days after the end of term so lots of them have said oh, end of term as if I'll be working till then! Not if winooh is anything to go by! People keep asking me when I will finish & I really don't know. I know some of our berries have finished, if so how many weeks were you?

Hello pearl what a great story. Very weird to be pg after all those years of trying. I was about to start my second IVF cycle.

Been googling pregnancy yoga classes, it'll be nice to do something like that as I love yoga.

So far today I've eaten a bowl of cereal, then when dh woke up he made scrambled eggs on toast so had that ( only 1 slice of toast though!) & a belvita biscuit... Thinking about lunch already, seriously I've never been this hungry!!

Foodylicious · 17/01/2015 14:23

Hi, some of you may remember me.... been a bit busy with my little boy the last few months (and yes a boy, though your list says girl, I'm sure Stevie doesn't mind :) )
Just popping on to say Congratulations to Winnoh!!! Hope you are enjoying your newborn snuggles!!!
good to see so many of you over here

Bair · 17/01/2015 15:07

That sounds awesome Bushy, I am having a bad food day today. Have managed some plain sponge cake and the lucozade DH has went to the shop twice to get.

Last night was bad with sickness, went up to bed as had enough. Woke up and started vomiting in my special bowl, vomited through my nose and was retching so much I couldn't breathe. DH was downstairs, noticed my retching sounded different and came up and sorted me out. He then sat with me as my eyes watered and I kept retching and he brought the scan over so I could see as he made sympathetic noises.

With DS 11 long years ago I had horrible sickness but they wouldn't help me. I lost loads of weight and ended up in hospital at 8 months. desperate to avoid it this time round. I was a single parent and had no support through pregnancy.

Having a DH that makes you scrambled eggs and holds your hair back is so valuable. I must tell him I love him about 20 times a day. Sorry for being soppy but I feel like crap today and DH is just picking up all the slack and them some.

Hope you're all having a good day. Congrats on your little boy Foody Smile

RevoltingPeasant · 17/01/2015 17:34

Bair do you think you might have hyperemesis? I had quite bad sickness but never vomited through my nose - poor you!!

V tired today. We are supposed to be giving the birth pool a run tonight but soooooo sleepy!

Bair · 17/01/2015 17:53

I dare say I did have with DS, RP. It's not quite as bad as it was with him this time. The nose thing was because I went from asleep to sick without a chance to wake up and sit up.

Surely your role in 'giving the birth pool a run' will purely be supervisory RP? Maybe having a nice relax in it once it's up... Smile

ladybunnikins · 17/01/2015 18:19

Aargh, I was just sorting out a new list and then my rabbit hopped on the laptop and managed to close down google chrome!
The hypnobirthing was good, I felt a bit stressed in the morning because there were a couple of things I disagreed with and I kept remembering some of the traumatic things I've seen but the afternoon was about relaxation techniques so that was good. Obviously the emphasis was on having a completely natural birth so I can see why people feel they have 'failed' if they end up needing an induction/intervention. I don't think the course itself added a great deal to the books and CDs for me but my husband found it useful, there was plenty of advice for the partners and their role at a hypnobirth.

bair your dh sounds awesome. Poor u being sick through your nose!! Hope the sickness starts to ease for you, lucozade sounds a good idea... I can since add to the food list with, wait for it, a cheese toastie, breadsticks, crackers & houmous & a choc chip pancake and yes, you've guessed it, I'm hungry again!! Pretty bad on the five a day front but been v good in the week taking fruit salads & fruit to work.

lady you are aptly named if your bunny is jumping on your laptop! What kind of rabbit is he? I feel a picture is in order!

rp are you having a special bath then tonight??!!

foody congrats on your little boy.

Got myself in a little bit of a twist earlier.. Dh and I dtd for the first time in about 3 mths and then I got myself worried thinking maybe it's done damage and cause a miscarriage. I've since googled & it says it's fine and perfectly safe to dtd unless you've had bleeding. I haven't had any bleeding. I think it's the fear of losing it, like last time, that's surfacing a bit & also the knowledge that I've no way of knowing the baby is alive until I get to the 20 week scan. I mean when I miscarried before I didn't find out til the 12 wk scan so had been going round for a good couple of weeks totally unaware, thinking everything was fine. I worry that a similar thing could happen. I work with a girl who same thing happened to her but they found out at 20 week scan. Think I need a bit of talking down but I can see this time between now & next scan as being tricky. I hadn't really been too bad until now, think the dtd has got me worried. Sorry to be so negative.

pearlcrystal · 17/01/2015 21:16

bushy there is definitely nothing to worry about - I have been reading a bit about early pregnancy and all the advice is that sex cannot harm your little bean. Even if you get a little bit of spotting afterwards, that's just because the cervix is extra sensitive. Like you though, I worry too and think that the spotting would frighten me ( I had some in week 5 which was not fun). Have you had your 12 week scan already? That must have been a reassurance. Not sure if you would consider it, but for peace of mind you can always get an extra scan done if you get really worried, it is an extra expense but might be worth it if it stops you worrying. Also before 20 weeks you'll probably feel the little one move, so that might provide some comfort. Given how far along you are the likelihood is that all is well!
BTW I am also looking to do pregnancy yoga but to join my local class you have to be at least 14 weeks, so need to wait. A little longer. In the meantime I am doing tracy Anderson's pregnancy project workouts and going on lots of walks to keep fit.

bair the sickness sounds grim but hooray for your supportive OH. I've not suffered too badly and my DH hasn't yet had to practice his carer skills, but i am not sure I really want him too - he's a cardiologist and deals with people on the brink of death every day which makes him a little insensitive to my small ailments normally :-).

lady Thanks for the list and adding me to it. Can I second the request for bunny photos? I am a sucker for anything fluffy and cute.

Bair · 17/01/2015 21:43

Thanks for the list Lady. Another request for bunny photos here!

No idea what to say Bushy as I feel exactly the same. I cannot wait for Pod to start wriggling so I can have that reassurance. You must be close to that now though, so as Pearl says, it'll be something to ease your mind as well as something to look forward too.

I am very grateful for DH, they're re-releasing the spectrum computer soon, one of DH's favs as a child. Going to get him one as a surprise present, hopefully he'll get plenty of playtime in before baby comes and it'll be a nice thank you.

I am very jealous of your food intake Bushy, sounds so good. I just managed a cheese slice and ham sandwich, not the most nutritious of foods but it's something. I'm taking folic acid but the pregnancy vits make me so much worse sickness wise, I think it's the iron. Hoping I can get some good food into me soon, if I'm still like this come booking in app I'll ask the midwife for advice.

RevoltingPeasant · 17/01/2015 23:17

Bushy at the 16w check up they listen to the heartbeat. You could schedule a 14 or 15w private scan as reassurance and then you'd have the 16w check up, and not long after that you will feel movement. Might help allay fears?

So I got in the birth pool (sans water) and....it was too big! It just felt a bit overwhelming. Plus the liner doesn't fit. It was only borrowed, so didn't cost us anything, so I am researching renting a smaller one. I am 5'4" and think one of the mini ones would suit me better. But if I do go into labour ASAP then we could probably use the one we have.

Felt a bit blue today, randomly. feather I am totally getting your blues of the other week! I have only been away from work 3 days but already I feel a bit housebound, and like I don't see anyone all day. But the house is already a lot tidier!!

Lady thanks for the excellent list :) it must be difficult to have all those pictures from work in your head. But, surely the majority of them work out well and statistically speaking the chances of having a disaster are v low? I have anxieties too around birth, but am trying to tell myself that my apocalyptic scenarios are 1/1000 occurrences!

ladybunnikins · 18/01/2015 10:53

RP surprisingly I'm not worried about the real disasters, it's just the general traumatic vaginal deliveries! The hypno lady suggested that when I do my day on delivery suite each week, I need to remember that that is their birth and not mine, and in the evening afterwards I should listen to the 'Free from Fear' mp3.
Bushy have you considered a doppler? I borrowed one from a friend and used it from 11 weeks. I've always managed to find the heartbeat although sometimes it takes a while. I found it very reassuring, especially since my MW didn't listen to the HB until 25 weeks.
Anyway, here's a bunny picture as requested, she's lying really flat because she's just had a massage. The ikea chair was bought for us but quickly got claimed!

The Berry-Copter!!! (Early 2015 edition)
RevoltingPeasant · 18/01/2015 11:03

Argh traumatic vaginal deliveries.........

but I think we need to remember that what looks traumatic from the outside may not feel it from the woman's perspective - and vice versa. I have heard women at my antenatal classes laughing about what sound to me quite horrific births, and conversely I feel bothered about some stuff that I think most people would take in their stride.

However..... I think a key hypnobirthing thing is feeling protected from negative stories and images, and remembering that when it comes down to it, you can make effective choices yourself during birth. You can decide not to labour on your back, or to request active monitoring, or to request C sec instead of instruments, or any of these things. It's something that we will do rather than something that happens to us, and we can also control how we respond to each situation.

That makes me feel better, anyhow!

pearlcrystal · 18/01/2015 14:07

RP are you having a home birth? Is it your first baby? Sorry the pool didn't suit.

lady your bunny is lovely and but made me laugh that he's had a massage, he is looking very relaxed.

bair hope you're feeling better today and you manage to eat something. My diet has definitely gotten worse since being pregnant. Normally I am an avid consumer of fruit and veg but it all makes me feel queasy now. I had a pear yesterday and my stomach blew up to the size of a football, making me feel sick for the rest of the day. Berries in smoothies seem to be ok, so I'm eating lots of those as well as tomatoes (heinz tinned tomato soup has been my major craving, and I've caved in to it in spite if all the sugar!) and bananas but approaching everything else with caution for now. Also, I would ordinarily avoid bread, crackers and other processed food but toast has become a pregnancy staple. After fretting about it for a few weeks, I've decided to go with it for now and compensate in second and third trimesters.

Also wondered if anyone has a remedy for itchy skin, which is turning into a bit of nuisance?

greatbigbushybeard · 18/01/2015 22:30

Thank you ladies, you've made me feel so much better and have more perspective on it. I hadn't thought about mw listening to heartbeat and that I'd be able to feel movements before next scan.

Loving your chilled out bunny bunny. What a lucky thing having her own chair & a massage. Haven't thought about Doppler. Have heard of some people getting in a twist because they couldn't find a heartbeat.

I'd never really heard about hypno birthing before being on here- what exactly is it? Does it work?

RevoltingPeasant · 18/01/2015 23:18

Bunny is very very cute Grin

Bushy I'll let you know whether hypno works in a couple of weeks - eek!! Am 38w tomorrow Shock
What I will say is, it hugely helps with anxiety, for me at any rate. The cd I'm listening to is for hospital births so it's all about how your body is designed to do this, but you may need to make different choices and you can do that calmly and sensibly and with the support of a caring med team. I find that really useful.

They normally don't listen for a HB prior to 16w, I think because of the risk if not locating it even if it's there. Also IMO GP are not so good at finding it as MWs. You could also ask your MW for an extra 18w appt to check HB given your history? I'm sure they'd fit you in if they could.

pearl hoping for a home birth but my blood pressure is a big iffy so it may not happen.

FeatherFeather11 · 19/01/2015 11:50

Loving your bunny, lady! So cute!

rp you feeling a bit better now? Just catching up on the thread and saw you said you were feeling a bit down. Think it's normal the first few days after starting mat leave. But it's amazing how busy I've been since! Who knew I could so easily become a lady of leisure! Grin. Do you realise that our babies could come any time now? I keep having moments of "oh my god this is ACTUALLY happening! Also, do you feel your pregnancy has gone quickly? I do. Think it's because I was in a state of denial for so long that I only allowed myself to believe it might be real after I started feeling her kick - quite late on at around 22 weeks.

Welcome and congrats pearl - don't think we've met yet! I wouldn't worry about what you're eating now - just try and eat what you can. I have to say that my diet has not been spectacular since getting pregnant, but you can't feel bad: the baby will take what it needs and deplete you so in that sense the baby is safe. The best tip I was given was to take Spatone iron sachets - £10 for a box of 30 from Boots. It's much better than Floridix etc as it's gentle and doesn't cause constipation ect. Mix with a bit of juice or water and down the hatch. My midwife suggested I double up on sachets from now until six weeks after the baby is born. bair really feel for you on the sickness front. Did you have it with your DC before?

bushy re Doppler - I avoided getting one as I knew I'd start mentalling and obsessing. Have you thought about making an appointment. With your gp for a check up? They normally check hb so might be a sneaky way to have a listen before your next appointment? I had a very early scan at 5.5-6 weeks because of the ectopic before and they managed to show us the heartbeat on the screen although we couldn't see it. They were surprised they could see it though as so early on.

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Can only scroll back so far on my phone. Hope you're all well and win, if you're reading this, hoping you and bub are settling in well! What a magical time!

Morning ladies. Just a quick check in from me as it's been an eventful 24 hours. I had some spotting and a small blood clot as well as light cramps last night which has made me really worried. I've booked a reassurance scan today so hopefully all will be well. Looking online ( not always the best thing I realise!) it does seem to happen sometimes so trying not to worry too much.

Hope you're all doing well and thank you for the welcome feather

Apologies for the short post and typos - I'm on my phone at work and trying to write without raising suspicion.

ladybunnikins · 20/01/2015 12:29

I hope the scan goes OK Pearl.

sparechange · 20/01/2015 12:52

Welcome pearl and congrats on your FUFC. Keeping everything crossed for your scan.

Quick update from me - had a scan yesterday which showed most things as fine but picked up 2 cysts on the neck which need further investigation, so off to see the fetal medicine specialist in an hour. I had to ban DH from Dr Google last night, so I'm going into this a bit more blind than my usual over-researched appointments. Can you send some berry luck my way please?

And I also had a meeting with an obstetrician to review the notes of my back surgery and recent MRI scan, which has confirmed an elective c-section to my enormous relief. I was expecting an uphill battle on it, but he took one look at my notes and said it was the safest option for me.

FeatherFeather11 · 20/01/2015 13:30

Sending Berrie power to pearl and spare at your scans today. Pls keep us updated. X

OP posts:
ladybunnikins · 20/01/2015 15:32

Hope it goes OK spare and congratulations on getting an elective LSCS!

pearlcrystal · 20/01/2015 20:44

spare so sorry to hear about your scare. I was thinking of you while in the appointment today and hoping that all was well and the fetal specialist could reassure you.

Everything looked OK in the scan today for me. They couldn't find the cause of the bleeding but my uterus is very bulky as I have both adenomyosis and fibroids, so that can lead to both bleeding and cramps.

Thank you feather lady and spare* for the good vibes! I am sure they helped.

FeatherFeather11 · 21/01/2015 09:03

That's good news pearl

spare hope you're ok....

OP posts:
RevoltingPeasant · 21/01/2015 09:13

Oh great news Pearl!

Spare....? Flowers fx for you.

On day 3 of mat leave and mostly doing laundry.... Many many secondhand baby beddings to wash! I'm getting up with DH this week and either going swimming or for a walk first thing and that makes me feel a lot better.

How are you, Feather? You must be nearly 38w now! Have you had any early labour symptoms? Mine seem to have died right down Hmm
