Thanks! My antenatal teacher was over earlier doing a workshop with us and deflatingly said that some women have shows weeks beforehand. Hmm we'll see either way! Am not expecting too too much but I might see about getting signed off work earlier than planned - next week is my last week and I may see if my GP would sign me off a couple of days early.

Hopefully that is not unreasonable.....

FeatherFeather11 · 11/01/2015 21:06

Get signed off rp! Got everything crossed for you and keep us posted. How exciting! xx

winohhh · 11/01/2015 21:27

Ooh RP!!! I'd definitely get signed of early. Any other signs of imminent labour??

greatbigbushybeard · 11/01/2015 22:03

Woooo!! I think I'd be a bit worried working too. How many weeks are you now? ( trying to look ahead & think when I might have to jack things in eeeek)

I've attached the bad boys pic for you!

We told our parents today at Sunday lunch which was lovely. Dh told them they were both going to be grandparents, the look on their faces was classic!! It took a while for the penny to drop. My mum was so happy she almost cried!!

Going to tell my head this week.

Got some fabulous maternity jeans from h&m, the big bump is soo comfy. I didn't get any leggings as nothing the right size but I noticed today my normal knees were cutting in to my tummy. Must be the Sunday dinner!!

Berries, I am just bricking it convinced that the 12 week scan will bring bad news. I have no reason to think this. I think it is just psychological because I have stopped the gestone injections which I have decided were the only things that were keeping it in.

Someone talk me down off this ledge please.

Pixie001 · 11/01/2015 22:52

RP how terrifying exciting! Definitely finish up early.
Bushy just caught up on your news. Must be such a relief for you!
Pip your worries are totally normal...I'm feeling the same way despite having early scan. Had a moment with dh earlier as I don't have any real symptoms anymore. But it seems that's not overly strange and they come and go. We just need to keep the faith. Your body's doing fine under it's own steam now..you don't need drugs. Step away from the ledge, take lots of deep breaths, a hug from Mr pip and some hands to hold from us on mn.
Thanks for the tips on mat clothes. I'm not at that stage yet...have simply got out my 'big' clothes..but useful for future.

greatbigbushybeard · 11/01/2015 23:39

Oh pip I have everything crossed for you. It is hard nearing the 12 wk scan, dh and I were really snappy with each other the night before it. I would try to keep fairly busy & not let your mind dwell too much on it. Like pixie said your body is doing it's thing now, try to stay positive or neutral about it. There's nothing you can do now but I do empathise with you and your negative state but pull yourself up & keep puffing along til next week, that's all you can do. I would recommend watching death in paradise to keep your mind off it & onto lovely things like beaches in the Caribbean. X

FeatherFeather11 · 12/01/2015 08:46

pip totally normal to feel how you are after what we've been through to get pregnant. I think the only way to get through it is to stay super-busy and distract yourself as much as possible till your 12w scan. Some positive pregnancy meditation might help too? Know it sounds hippy dippy, but it calmed me a lot. When is your scan again?

rp any news? Grin

36 + 4 now and convinced this baby is coming early. Getting a bit nervous now!

RevoltingPeasant · 12/01/2015 10:46

Pip totally normal. I veered between thinking 'gosh, I don't feel pregnant' to retching dramatically over the toilet. Lots of women have no symptoms at all. Think of those women who don't even know they're pg! Just hang on in there. When is your scan?

No news! Just continued minor loss and occasional cramps. Dr Google says this can go on for weeks so going to try not to get too excited/ frustrated/ terrified. Bad news is, blood pressure thru roof this morning so definitely going to see if I can get signed off after tomorrow.

Pipbin · 12/01/2015 12:45

RP scan is Monday 19th at 8.15.
I might have gone mad before then.

RevoltingPeasant · 12/01/2015 19:41

Pip it is half a 2ww. You can do that! And it will all be fine.

Grin at Bushy's picture.

So I had a presentation scan today, to ensure baby is head down - you have to have one if you are having a HB - and baby is indeed head down, is definitely a girl, and is engaged (NOT that I needed a scan to tell me that Hmm ). I mentioned the bloody shows to the scan MW who said to go to labour triage just in case. So I did and they put me on the monitor for 60min which reveals that dino is totally happy, so all good. Also BP dropped to 120/75 which is ace. I think because it was so boiling in there!

Also a woman actually had her baby in the triage room whilst I was in the waiting room next door. She had just gone in for monitoring and all of a sudden there was this emergency button, all these people rushed past the door and into the triage room, and then we heard a baby crying Shock it sounded pretty furious, too! One of the MWs outside the door was saying they were having to take her knickers off as the baby was crowning.

So going to "work at home" in a fairly nominal fashion after tomorrow. Phew!
How is everyone else?

Pipbin · 12/01/2015 20:06

Oh my goodness RP. That is scary that it can happen that suddenly.

I know it's only one week to wait but unlike a normal 2ww I've got something to lose this time.

Sudden backache here. It's making me panic. Everything is making me panic.

greatbigbushybeard · 12/01/2015 20:35

Flipping eckrp that sounded dramatic!! Great news that Dino is so happy and bp was good too. It's v interesting or scary hearing what happens nearer the end for us newbies.

I told my head today who was lovely, congratulated me and said it was fabulous.

Going to brave going to the supermarket to get some cakes to go with my announcement to the rest of the staff tomorrow... Not sure of all of the cakes will make it into school...serious case of the munchies!!

Here's a question. We were talking about maternity clothes before, when did you have to up your knicker size? Some of mine are starting to seem a bit small and I noticed my bra was digging in a bit, more the under wire. Wonder if it's time to get some non wired ones but not sure what size to get. I could get re measured but I take it they could change a lot.

RevoltingPeasant · 12/01/2015 20:42

I bought nursing bras at 15 weeks but didn't go up a knicker size till about 27 or 28w. I went up then from size 12 to 16. Those 16s are still doing me now. Would totally recommend M&S basic cotton knicks as they are cheap, comfy, and last.

If you are buying maternity bras I'd go for nursing ones. They are mostly the same, just nursing ones have the cups unclip to nurse. The ones I bought at 15w are still going strong with some bra back extenders and I am pretty confident now I'll be able to use them to bf in a few weeks (eeeeek!).

RevoltingPeasant · 12/01/2015 20:44

Oh and with nursing bras, I got my back re measured and just went up one cup size from normal. That paid off as they fit well now with the extenders but everyone is different and my boobs are not hugely bigger than pre pg.

Pipbin · 13/01/2015 07:41

Brown spotting. Waiting for EPU to open.

Bair · 13/01/2015 08:43

Pip, what time can you go in? Do you have to call ahead? Is someone going in with you?

FeatherFeather11 · 13/01/2015 08:50

Hand holding pip. Remember that brown is very common, albeit scary. Will be checking in to see how you get on.

OP posts:
Pipbin · 13/01/2015 08:56

EPU said to go to gp.
Gp appointment at 10.

FeatherFeather11 · 13/01/2015 09:01

Why? Why can't they just scan you?

OP posts:
Pipbin · 13/01/2015 09:08

DH is with me. We work together and our work are very caring.
It seems to have stopped but I still want to get it checked out. I'm sure it's nothing but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Pipbin · 13/01/2015 09:10

I dunno Feather. There isn't a direct number for the EPU and the 'who to call info' said to call the ward if you are consultant lead care. So I did and they said go to the GP and then the GP will refer if I need a scan.

Bair · 13/01/2015 09:11

OFGS, best GP can do is refer you to EPU. I swear sometimes the medical professionals just don't 'get it' do they.

Like Feather says, although very scary and awful, it is common and does happen in pregnancies that go on to be incident free and healthy.

Pipbin · 13/01/2015 09:13

I've contacted my midwife too but I've not heard anything back.
I don't know what they think a GP can do about it. I'm sure they don't want loads of panicking women clogging up the place but they really don't get it do they.

Bair · 13/01/2015 09:16

Did you explain your history?

My EPU is giving me a reassurance scan on Thurs (booked last tues - not an emergency one) as I rang up and explained my history and that I was bricking it.

It's ridiculous how much care can vary area to area.
