Did you go on one or are you planning one? Where and when did you go and what did you do? DH and I are considering going on one in Feb when I'll be around 22-24 weeks, assuming all goes well. Just wondering if anyone had any stories or experience, good or bad!

Currently in Berlin on ours - I'm 25 weeks tomorrow. It's lovely having the time just the two of us. My stamina isn't up to usual so we had a nap yesterday afternoon and today we're using the sightseeing bus as my sciatica is playing up. Otherwise it's the perfect break!

Off to Butlins when I will be 36 weeks pregnant, three weeks before my c section with DH, DS who will be three then and two friends. Needed somewhere where I could chill out (mum to be spa treatment) and DS was very well entertained with DH and friends.
I will be taking my notes, hospital bag and car seats 'just in case'!!!!

Second trimester is definitely the time to do it - for most people you're post morning sickness but pre feeling like an exhausted whale.

We did two trips away, both staying in the fanciest hotels we could justify splurging on, and enjoyed lots of food, relaxing, sitting by the swimming pool in fluffy dressing gowns, and yet more food.

The only thing I slightly regret was misjudging my paranoia levels - I ate street food in Morocco (sensibly - freshly made, piping hot, from popular stall) but then spent ages panicking about listeriosis! Then panicking about sunbathing and overheating the baby Confused. Obviously everything was fine but I perhaps should have just accepted the inevitability of the preggo jitters and been less adventurous!

I went to crete at 24 weeks. DP got sore throat and spent whole week lying in hotel room and moaning. I had a nice time by myself though, very relaxing

We did a spa weekend around 25 weeks, it was lovely. I had a pregnancy massageSmile

We had a last blow out holiday to road trip around Texas when I was 17 wks. It was an ideal time as I wasn't showing much and felt pretty good, just a bit tired from time to time. Was an excellent holiday to enjoy being a couple one last time. It's really special to have those memories as life will be so different with a baby.

Now I'm 32 wks we would like a little weekend away... But somewhere close to the hospital!!!

Agonising over one now. Put off TTC for just one more trip for too long then trying to squeeze more travel in 1st pg went to Morocco at 10wks but spotted there & mcd once home. 2nd pg Berlin at 6 wks, mc'd again at 12 wks. 3rd now 24 wks so fingers crossed, but mw cautioning of low placenta risk of bleeds etc - so maybe Scandinavia/Netherlands for many people speaking good English, just in case - or UK based if we don't organise something foreign asap!

DH did reckon Madeira has good medical facilities though I thought it was more for older people!

Booked a short break in Copenhagen. Will be cold but my coat won't do up... www.mumsnet.com/emo/te/9.gif.pagespeed.ce.TUei7x3YMQ.gif

Generally agree a smaller city maybe best for a relaxing pottering break instead of feeling you have to walk far, i.e. Tallinn not Berlin, York not London etc.

I may have done a dumb thing - I've told DH to surprise me! We're either going to end up in New York or a damp caravan in Wales, I just know it Hmm

I do love the idea of another one closer to EDD though Grin

Good luck! Just hope you don't get stuck like the couple who just had a son there at 29 weeks! (New Year in Copenhagen good but walking a lot @ 24 weeks not v comfortable, even if only due to ill-fitting pg jeans)! Probably Wales if we have another :)
