Baby measuring small - did I cause this? Is there anything I can do now?

Today at my 33 week appointment I was told that DC2 is measuring small (30 cms) and I'm being referred for a growth scan. Has anyone else had this and, if so, what was the outcome?

I'm beating myself up thinking that I might have caused this by not eating enough, working too much or by not taking a regular multivitamin. Whether or not I did cause it, is there anything I can do now? Will me eating more help the baby grow?

While my DC1 was a smallish baby at birth (6lbs14) he always measured bang on target when in the womb, so I have no experience of this. Don't know if midwife was just trying to stop me from worrying by saying that I might just grow small babies.

Any info or advice very much appreciated - thank you!

Ds2 was measuring small and my bump was tiny. Ds1 was 6ib11 2 week over due, so they said I should expect a smaller baby. But I just knew my baby wasnt that small, movements were totally different to ds1s they really hurt. Id lost alot of weight in 1st 3 month of pregnancy dropping to 7 1/2 stone at 5'6 because I was unable to keep anything in. I gave birth at 40 weeks to a 9ib little boy. The midwives were totally shocked as I looked about 4 month preg at term and bump had measured small. It really isnt accurate and also if baby was on the smaller side its not anything you have done, if that was case ds would have been teeny weeny cause of the lack of food I could keep down. Im sure all will be fine :)

FourthMary Grin Support with errors is still support and it's very much appreciated.

Thanks to all of you, I am coming around to the idea that it's nothing I've done. That said, when I can clear this bloody nausea, I'm going to stuffing my face over the holidays with the excuse that baby is measuring small!

I had growth scans for measuring small. They picked up reduced growth and low fluid. I was induced and DS was born little but perfect. I'm very grateful they kept such a close eye on us. He is now a tall and sturdy toddler.
