brown discharge?

Hello ladies. Just signed up!
So I'm 9/10 weeks pregnant, last Thursday, 9days ago, I had some light, pink, bleeding. Not even a thimble full but since then my discharge has been brown and clotty. I've not had cramps but I've had what I can only describe as muscle pain in my lower abdomen. I've seen an out of hours Dr who said not to worry unless it gets worse. It's not a lot but it's everyday. And I can't help but worry. I've got my dating scan next Tuesday, 23rd, but I don't know if I can wait til then to get it checked out.
Please could anyone advise me on what to do.

I think mild cramps are normal as your uterus is stretching. Also I think the advice is not to worry as long as it's brown not fresh red blood.

I know all pregnancies are different but my first was completely different! With my daughter (age 6) I had no pregnancy symptoms at all! This time I've had incredibly sore boobs, nausea, fainting/feeling faint, extreme tiredness and not the brown discharge.
I had a scan at 6 weeks as they thought it was ectopic, all was normal and we saw the heartbeat too, now I'm dreading the next scan. so badly want this baby (so does my mum!)

I had brown discharge from weeks 5-13. Two extra scans at EPU couldn't find any reason for it. DS2 is 9 days old and sleeping soundly right now.
Get your GP to refer you to your nearest EPU for an earlier scan if you're worried, mine was great and didn't make me feel at all bad for coming in.

Kinda feel bad only be a week until my scan and I know they can't really do anything if I am having a mc. It's also very hard to get in to see my gp.

I had brown spotting at 8 weeks and 10 weeks and an emergency scan at the EPU (I went straight into A&E rather than see the DR and got a scan the same day). They couldnt find a reason for it at all but it didnt last long. Im now 34 weeks xx

I had a small amount of blood, literally you had to really squint to see it on the tissue. My dr said it's quite normal to have this type of thing at 8,10 and 12 weeks xxx

Is a scan the only way of finding out? The ooh doc said as my bp was ok then it most likely isn't a mc. Think I'm gunna try and hold out for scan on 23rd. Unless things get worse obviously. I don't want to bother people unnecessarily.

I lost quite a lot at 32 weeks but all was fine. It was some old blood that loosened. Fresh, red blood is a worry. In the early stages I believe you can lose a small amount of blood at the time when your next period would have been due.

I've called a mw this afternoon, she's told me to rest and to go and see gp tomorrow. Just hope I can get an appointment! My drs are rubbish, tend to have to book 3 weeks in advance! They may refer me to epu. Reactions from receptionist and mw have got me worried.

Just been searching babiecakes and it seems that in my area you can only be referred by a gp.
I've finally bitten the bullet and told the hubby and my mum, have been hiding it from them and keeping it to myself. They are both great and really supportive but I just didn't want to tell them.

It could be implantation bleeding or something I got that's not often a problem - forgotten the name though. Something like a sub-uterine haemorrhage. It's essentially a clot in your uterus wall that works itself out. I think they are only a risk if they are near the site of implantation.

I wish you the best - it's a real lottery on treatment; had brown discharge for my first, rang up OOH and was told same as you 'There's not much we can do if it's a miscarriage' - same area but mentioned it in second pregnancy to GP and was whisked in for early scan... Both pregnancies for me were, fortunately, OK.

I'd love to think it's implantation but if I'm 10/11 weeks surely implantation would have been some weeks ago. I'm going to call gps at 830 when the lines open and say it's an emergency. See what gp says although I know it won't be my gp.

If not I'll probably end up at a&e. Not waiting around anymore.

I'm now 21 weeks and had a big gush of bright red blood at 11 weeks, followed by a few weeks of brown spotting. It was terrifying but scan picked up a large clot that is quite common. My 20 week scan showed it has gone so either all came out or has been re-absorbed. It's scary but so common, just try not to stress yourself out over it. More than likely all will be fine esp if you have had no cramping, but if you are worrying call epu. It's a long time to wait if you're stressing so an early scan could put your mind at rest x

Been to gp this morning (after arguing with the receptionist!) And he has referred me for a scan on Thursday. 2 days of sofa/bed rest it is then apart from my daughter's Xmas play tonight.
Sorry for expression but I'm shutting a brick! I really really don't want to lose this baby! I know most ppl feel the same but everything has fallen perfectly!

sort of in the same boat, I'm 15 weeks and I went to A&E after waking up on Sunday to quite a lot of blood. They were lovely to me & thankfully the registrar found baby's heartbeat with the doppler. They have called me every morning since to make sure I'm okay and I am booked for a scan on Thursday. Bleeding has turned into brown spotting and I have a more of an uncomfortable feeling in my abdomen rather than cramps. I spent 2 days on the sofa and am just wishing the time away to Thursday. In spite of all the reassurance, I will feel so much better once I see my baby on the screen. I wouldn't hesitate going back to A&E straightaway if anything like this happens again.

Well I had the scan today. I'm so happy to say all is well with my little bean. Smaller that originally thought, 10+2, but hey ho, and I've got a right wriggler on my hands. That'll be fun later on!. Even gave us a little wave!
