Stupid receptionist at Dr.s surgery.........

Called up yesterday to try and get my booking in appointment sorted. They usually do them at 8-10 weeks at our surgery and you can't make an appointment more than 4 weeks in advance (marvelous if the dr. says "I'd like to see you again in 6 weeks!). Anyhow, she told me the MW would ring me to make an appointment sometime - but in the meantime which hospital did I want to give birth in.......... I told her I wasn't sure yet (we've got two pretty equal distance).

Her reponse "well you HAVE to decide now so we can get your scan date sorted." Fair enough I thought, and told her I'd use Kettering (the one I used for DS2) for now - but might change my mind later in the pg". stupid woman then told me that "once you're registered with that hospital you HAVE to stay with them, no changing"!. How I stopped myself telling her that I was perfectly entitled to change my mind - and that anyhow I was hoping for a homebirth and the hospital I chose as my backup would be decided later on I don't know.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I don't know how you stopped yourself either. Isn't it annoying how rude and pushy they can be?!?!?! You done well to keep your cool, lady!!!! Deciding at this stage? Ludicrous!

You can change your mind..what does she think people do that move to a new area during pregnancy do!

I had all my 3 at Kettering, and have found the maternity wing, very good...but it was a very liong time ago now since my last

northampton is 2-3 miles further from us, but you wont have the A14 to contend with...in a rush!!!!

Take no notice of her. Just smile sweetly, tell her what she wants to hear and then just do what you want.

Perhaps you could suggest to the gp that the receptionist may benefit from some customer service training!

How annoying!

I had a choice of Kettering or Hinchingbrooke, chose Hinchingbrooke and then in the last month changed my mind to Kettering!

I wasn't overly impressed with Kettering when I had DS2 a few years ago - didn't feel I was being listened too at all (apart from one lovely MW). Still I'm not bothered where I have my scan so Kettering will do for now
