anyone else getting headaches?

I'm 18wk and for the last 4 days ive woken up with a horrible headache that takes a few hours to shift. I dont normally get migraines but my eyes hurt too on monday. Is this normal when pregnant or should I call my gp?

I don't know if it's normal or not (although every symptom seems to be normal) but for the past couple of days I've had headaches on and off. I'm 28 weeks.

Headaches in pregnancy is normal but of course frequent headaches I would talk to doc. Just to put your mind at rest

Me too, it's almost like I'm dehydrated as it's worse in the morning, eases off in the day and then kicks in again at night when I'm tired. I've been told it's normal unless you are getting blurred vision or eye problems so I'd give your midwife a ring x

I'm 16 weeks and like poster above have been getting dehydrated headaches (despite drinking a load of water), so it's likely it's quite normal, but if you're concerned then ring your midwife

I've been getting them though less now I am drinking loads of water in the night.
Every time I get up to pee I drink at least a glass - cue then waking up to pee again. But it has eased the migraines during the day.

Yep. Mine are awful, usually at start of week, sometimes last for 3 days. I picked up one of those 4Head sticks, works a little bit, and I've been drinking as much water as possible. It means I'm going to the loo 3 times an hour but it helps a little!

I spoke to my midwife earlier on in my pregnancy about it (I'm 16 weeks now, this was a good few weeks ago) and she said further along it can be a sign of pre-eclampsia, but at my stage it was nothing to worry about. You could always check if you're worried.

I was suffering with headaches around the same time as you, turned out to be sinuses get blocked due to hormones.
Was given antibiotics help but it came back, been given a steroid spray and has worked alot better and keeps the headaches at bay.
Go see your gp.

Hi it is normal , ive had migraines since 16 weeks . They got so bad I saw my Gp and got some Co-codamol painkillers . I am 30 wks and still get them occasionally but not as bad . The migraines/headaches are caused by hormones , plus I was drinking 2 litres + a day . See your dr dont suffer mine got worse before they eased up . x

I'm fairly prone to headaches, make sure you're getting plenty of fluids, remember caffeinated and fizzy drinks aren't as hydrating as water and squash. It might also be worth getting your eyes checked if they're quite frequent, a prescription change is something your dr will quite likely get you to check before they look not whether it's neurological.

Yes I wondered if it could be dehydration as ive been waking up with a dry throat during the night too. Ive been trying to limit the amount I drink before bed to minimise getting up to pee! I'll give my GP a ring and see what they say but good to know its pretty 'normal'. thanks!

Yes! Nearly everyday in early pregnancy then they stopped for a few months. I'm nearly 35 weeks now and for the past few days it's been horrific. I told .myself yesterday if I had a headache today I'd be going seeing my midwife. Thankfully I've woke up without one today.

I did note that I'd eaten cheese for the past couple of days, didn't eat any yesterday and I'm fine today so I think cheese was causing them

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I'm almost 18 weeks and have had blinding headaches over the last week. I did think it was dehydration but I'm caught in the same cycle of needing the loo so much that it's a bit annoying.

Was v frustrating speaking to the pharmacist and her pointing out the 4head stick! I was saying Nooooooooo!! I need drugs Woman!
Anyway, basic paracetamol helped a bit, Irn bru, plenty 'proper' food (umm a bacon roll - I sound hungover!) and sleep. Lying down was the only respite... Sorry, hope some of this is actually a bit useful.

I started getting headaches around 18 weeks. They always seem worse if I'm tired not drinking enough water or getting fresh air or if I felt tense in my shoulders and neck!

Also recommend catching a nap whenever you can, I could only really do this at the weekend though :(

Yes yes yes!!

Got them from the day I got pregnant I think! Everyday, without fail. My work got me a 'relaxing room' sorted out so I can go for a nap when feeling iffy. I also co-codamol 15/500 from the doc but it doesnt even touch it. When at home I use a thick sock run under the cold tap, and lay down with it over my head and eyes for half an hour. When at work, I have the cooling migraine strips I use, or wet a paper towel and put it on my head and one on my neck.

Another thing that helped was upping water intake, I now drink 3 litres day!

Mine too have eased up now but not gone completely. Whenever I feel the niggling of one I use the forehead stick and that seems to stop it in its tracks most of the time.

I had these from about 15w every morning. The pain was in my neck part of the spine and headache, throbbing about eyes.

Week ago I went on a strict hydration regime and for so far headaches are gone.

I also take magnesium in addition to Pregnacare.

I had many weather-related migraine headaches after I moved to UK and the weather was gray and rainy for all day and was recommened magnesium as remedy. That and breating in steam, either in hot shower or humidifier in bedroom.

Anyone else getting nosebleeds too? Never had one before I got pregnant and they seem to be quite frequent now. Nothing major but still an inconvenience

I had an intense presssure headache for 14 days, it was horrendous. After blood tests etc and a lot of unknown it turns out that I had actually somehow hurt my neck so after icing my neck and shoulders for a few days it went away! Just wanted to share as it started with a headache and I had absolutely no idea it could be related to something else
