Hi,
I have a pain in my left calf which feels like the stiffness you get after having bad cramp - except I haven't had cramp. Its quite painful to walk on. There is no swelling etc. just the pain. Any ideas anyone? I have a doctors appointment but its not until Thursday.

Thanks

Havve you considered a DVT, hope it isn't but they are more common in the left leg and during pregnancy, could you get yourself seen sooner. Can you bend your leg at the knee, an osteopath told me that this was one of the signs of a dvt, if it is very painfull to do that. Hope I havne't been too alarmist, as it could very easily be just a strain, during pregnancy it is easier to strain muscles cos of all the relaxin

Hi Overrun,
Yes, I can bend the leg at the knee, its just walking that hurts. My DH looked up the symptoms of DVT and I don't have any of them. I wanted to use deep heat but the makers tell me they don't recommend it during pregnancy. If it was a muscle strain what can I do? I did ring the doctors to bring the appointment forward but I have to call them again in the morning.

Really glat that dvt has been ruled out, good luck with it

Hi peacemaker.

Here's what I think, after experiencing these cramps everynight for the past few weeks (I'm 31 weeks PG) I think you've had cramp in the night, slept through it, and today have that awful feeling like you've really hurt your calf. This happened to me the other night and the next day my leg hurt like hell. It has gone now.

You don't say if you are actually suffering with leg cramps through the night, but if you are, ask your DH to rub your legs quite vigourously before bed. I do this and it really helps me get through the night with no leg cramping!

Mumatuks, no, definately no cramp at night, it started after sitting at a restaurant on Saturday night for 2 hours. Could feel what I thought would be the start of cramp so was rotating my ankle under the table and stretching out my heel but its just gradually got worse. I'm only 8 weeks pregnant anyway so those night time cramps won't affect me for a while.
