scan puts me at 8 weeks but i was sure i concieved 6 weeks ago?

This is a post for dsis, she's been ttc for a while now and doing ovulation tests etc.. had an early scan due to pains and small amounts of blood.
scan put her at 8 weeks but she says she conceived 6 weeks ago, 8 weeks ago would have been her lmp.
Am I right in thinking that all sounds fine and as far as I remember don't they add 2 weeks?
She says doc never mentioned them adding 2 weeks so she's just looking for some reassurance that they haven't messed up her dates.

They class the "Start Date" as the first day of your (her) last menstrual period, which on a 28-ish day cycle is 2 weeks before you actually conceive. So you can technically celebrate being pregnant before sperm even meets egg :)

I thinks it starts from when the egg is released not fertilised

The 40 weeks presumed to be the standard length of a human pregnancy are calculated from the first day of the last period, so six weeks since conception/eight weeks pregnant would be the same thing. :)

Yeah I thought so! She won't take my word for it though! Ive only done it twice myself so what would I know hey addmitedly that was some time ago now
