hi has anyone used a doppler to listen to babys heart beat. i heard babys heart beat yesterday when i see midwife. today i cant hear the heart beat but then i only got the doppler today and im not 100% im doing it right. im kind of regretting getting it now because im just gonna shit myself everytime i cant find it.

When i was pregnant with my last child doc could not find heart beat so went for a scan and all was good. so im thinking if doc had problems finding heart beat what chance do i have. maybe was not such a good idea to buy it :(

The general consensus seems to be anti-doppler for the reasons you've just said.
Even more worryingly it's possible to get false reassurance from them when you hear your own heartbeat or the placenta.
This can lead to people not seeking medical attention when it could have saved a baby as they thought all was well.

I'm presuming your 16-20 weeks pregnant so too early to be counting kicks but when you're a little further along use the tools on www.countthekicks.org

Fetal dopplers are unsafe - don't get one.

Oh and Yes, very low down if you want to try again. My midwife didn't try to find heartbeat til 20 weeks btw as she said very often even the professionals can't find it at 16 weeks.

im bit of a prat really i bought one for my last pregnancy. and binned it because i scared myself. and done same this time :/ bloody idiot

Article doesn't say they are unsafe, that implies using one might harm your baby. But they don't offer the reassurance you want as the hb doesn't indicate all is well with the baby. However you can hear with a Doppler before you have a chance of counting kicks at all, ime.
Mine caused me massive anxiety and only a few nice moments - eg having a listen with dh ourselves after a scan.

I had about 5 mins at midwifes trying to find heart beat, thing was broken. A quick swap for a new one and found straight away. Wouldn't have liked to be in this situation myself at home

i did manage to find it at least i think i did. might end up in the bin again though lol.

We just bought an AngelSounds Doppler and used it last night, I'm 9w6d and we heard the heartbeat. I am very slim and had a very very full bladder. Found it on the right side just below belly button and tilted in and down. Hope this helps xxxx
