Really stuck for a boys name. I want something unusual (but not a made up name if that makes any sense). Any suggestions? X

We liked River but we're having a girl so boys names are redundant for us. We also liked Ripley. We struggled to agree on boys names but have loads of girl's names to choose from. xx

I loved the name Dorian but wasn't let,
likewise Sebastian.

My son is called Sasha.... I also like Bruno.

I liked Edison but dh didn't. We had a girl in the end so none of it mattered!

I LOVE Sasha (and would prefer to spell it Sachs despite being English!) but dh would never have it... Ever. Well, I suppose I did marry him, should have guessed he would want to be very safe on names cos he is pretty risk averse. Oh well!

daholster · 19/11/2014 17:43

That should have been Sacha, of course!

The two most unusual suggestions I've had so far have been Thorkell (an old family name apparently -well back in the days of the vikings!) suggested by fil and Embleton (my maiden name) suggested by gran-in-law which apparently would be a great boys name.

The children at nursery have suggested Flowers if it's a girl and Snips if it's a boy! Am I having a crab??

I love Magnus & Kaspar but it could just be my love of European drama speaking!

MadameJosephine · 19/11/2014 21:09

I really wanted either Edison or Darwin for a boy but DP vetoed both - luckily we had a girl.

DS would have been Sacha if I'd had my way!

Jenny chuckling at Snips! My little cousin suggested Salty as a name a few weeks back... Unusual I guess! Grin

I have a 24 year old Jack...it was a very unusual name when we chose it! I know boys who are called...Raffi...Huxley...Mac...Dion...Indy...Stanley has become very popular here...also Buddy...Beau and felix...Oh I loved this stage...I got my Girls name though even tho DH originally vetoed it...He missed her birth...in lift...and when he eventually got there, I just burst into tears...I want to call her xxxxx...he just stood there shell shocked and said OK...

TheScenicRoute · 20/11/2014 22:26

It's not on my list but in doing our family tree I discovered my great grandad was called Thurlow, it's an old English name.
