I got my results about 4 hours after the last blood sample. Midwife just phoned me with my result, which was negative.

Thank you, seems like I shall just have to wait longer.

Both times I have had GD they phoned me back the same day. If I were you I would assume your results will be ok.

I got them at my 28 weeks midwife appointment- but they were normal x

Thanks everyone. I had GD the first time, am hoping I have escaped it this time.

Oh Macey I had gd first time around and I am desperate to avoid it this time. Are you doing anything very differently, other then diet to avoid it? Can I be cheeky and ask if you would mind updating when you have your results I would love to know if it can be avoided second time around. Sorry if this is a bit too forward.

I am trying to make healthier choices though the first trimester this was almost impossible. In the last few weeks have resumed attending a spinning class, park the car further away in order to walk more.

Not sure any of this is making a difference or if I am just naturally pre disposed to it as my mother has diabetes.

But of course will post my result once received.

I'm in N. London and have had two GTTs this pregnancy. First was fine, didn't actually hear anything from them, second one at 28 wks wasn't, so they rang me the following morning.

Hope you escape it this time!

FTRsGotAShinyNewNN · 16/11/2014 08:53

I had mine on a Tuesday and hadn't heard by the following Monday so I rang. They did say they would only ring me if the results weren't normal.

Macey78 · 16/11/2014 22:16

Tinymonkey thanks for that, can I just ask, I thought you only would do one gtt test is it normal to have another one?

FTR that's handy to know.

I think I had two because my initial fasting blood test was a little on the high side, and I am 40 and had a high bmi at booking in. It's not standard. This is at the Whittington btw.

First GTT was at 18 wks. I was convinced it would come back positive. Pleasant surprise when it didn't. Gutted when the 28 wk one did, although it was fairly borderline.

Only a couple more weeks to go though, and have managed to mostly diet control, with metformin for the last fortnight or so. Baby's abdominal circ had leapt up to the 97th centile at 32 wk scan though.

On my first pregnancy I had a GTT at 17 weeks because of glucose in my urine which I passed. Because it develops during pregnancy I had the standard 28week one too (because dm is type 2) and "failed". So even if you don't have gd now they may test again if they suspect it later in pregnancy (baby big, glucose in urine etc).
