I don't know, TR, and I've even asked dh who also doesn't know (I know vet is slightly different to humans, but I thought it was worth a try!). Just wanted to say I'm thinking of you x

My dd has heart problems trinity but I have no experience of this (or of foetal scanning either, dd wasn't dx'd prenatally). I think it's called levocardia and it's doesn't necessarily mean there are problems with the heart itself, just that the postion isn't 'usual'. Some people have a complete mirror image with the heart over on the right.

Please don't go off googling and scaring yourself half to death (you probably already have).

Hope the scan goes well and you have no further worries.

actually I haven't googled and your right , thats not a good idea

"Some people have a complete mirror image with the heart over on the right." One of my relatives has this - he's somewhere in his late 50's and always seems healthy

TheUnholyTrinity · 09/10/2006 12:48

Hi there Trinity,
not sure if you mean basically that the heart is just more to the left thent eh right, as it would be usually...if so, then my cousin has this, all his organs are on the other side, abscially, also is mucous membranes are slightly different and it meant that basically the lil "hairs" are in the "wrong" direction, which makes it harder for him to expell mucous...when he wasa younger he had to be really careful not to become ill with a cold, etc...as it was more likely to become a pneumonia, and he had to use a contraption that made him breath deeper, oh and they had to use a certain technique to "massaging" his back to help him expell of mucous, etc...!
He is a grown man now and is doing well and has never had any real trouble wiht this...so, if this is it, then I am sure your lil one will be just fine!

3andnomore · 11/10/2006 20:14

Trinity, hope all is well at your end, just wondering if you have any news yet, if you had another scan yet, etc....! Wishing all the best anyway!

emzickle · 11/10/2006 20:15

yeah, good luck - must be a horrid time for you x
