16 weeks appt- cervix check?

Hello
I am currently just starting week 17. For past couple of weeks I felt some tugging and sometimes dull and sometimes sharper pain or cramp in what I assume is my cervix area. The location of the pain is definitelly inside. Sometimes I feel quite a pressure on the same place as well..

I had on couple of occasions what I assume ligaments pain, but these did not feel inside, more on the surface of the belly and to the side. These reacted on movement.

So I am getting very concerned about opening cervix and all that.

I am having my 16 week midwife appt soon, I am low risk, first child, never been pg before, no mg.

Should I ask midwife to check this and how should I ask this? I dont want to get answer that it is normal. I would like them to check to see if it is properly closed and if perhaps they would need to do cerclage, I really dont want to see until it is too late. Can she check that at the appointment?

I understand I am not falling into any risk group of women for cervix incompetency so they have no reason to check me but I feel some pain and pressure there and I am just so concerned.

Pain there is probably ligament related and/or nerves causing pain as a result of possible things like SPd. Do you have any back pain?

Speak to midwife. I would not be insisting on an internal exam unless thy recommend it at this stage.

No, I dont have any back pain. No bleeding or anything so far.

Maybe I am just overreacting.
But I have lived before in different countries where they would normally do internal exams and scans and all that much often and much earlier in pg.

I just want to update that at my 16 weeks appt the midwife didnt even let me say my complaint about the cervix pain and pressure before she cut me off saying it was normal.

Anyway the folowing days the pain went away ( I suspect that my dance classes are helping as we do lots of yoga and pelvis tilting there) and those days I had dance every day.

Last week I had second trimester anomaly scan with fetal medicine specialist and asked him if he is able to check, he was able to show me my cervix via abdominal scan, literally took seconds, he estimated lenght to be about 4cm and all closed up, he said exact measurement has to be done via vaginal scan, but I was more than happy with this reassurance.

He also said that it could open in a matter of a day so being closed up now means literally nothing and there is nothing they could do about it.

But I am still much more calm now. I think it is particular position the baby is in what causes the pressure.
