Hi wondered if anyone could advise. I am 24+3 and have been told I have a uti and given 500mg amoxicillin to treat. But I didn't have any symptoms and test was done 10 days ago and just got results. Will this have spread as it was a while beforw i got results and will it affect my baby as midwife wasn't very helpful :( thanks x

Had them all the way through my second pregnancy. Bad - enough to be referred for kidney scans to check for reflux. Felt awful.

Was treated with amoxycillin.

Baby is now six foot two and built like a brick outhouse Smile

I'm sure you'll be fine - it's good that it was picked up before you felt poorly.

Im 10wks just about and have a feeling i have a second uti so back to docs tomorrow to find out

I had UTIs throughout both pg, probably because I was barely eating or drinking anything. Only problem was I am allergic to a amoxicillin and was even sicker!! UTIs cleared up and both dc are fine.

I had a UTI when pg with DS2. Had ABs also to get rid of it. My baby was a whopper at birth and is a healthy horse - so no side effects that I can ascertain!

If you need some reassurance ring your GPs surgery and talk through the results and the meds with the GP or one of the nurses. Sometimes just them talking it through with you just gives you the reassurance you need. Hope that you are feeling better very soon. Take care.

I'm pg and I've just finished my course of antibiotics. It took three tests and two and a half weeks for GP to decide whether I did or did not have a UTI, although by that time I had terrible symptoms! All fine now.

Yes. And, it was only picked up the morning I went into labour. So hadn't got better when I gave birth. Not fun. But, I can reassure you, DD was & is fine, no apparent effects.

Had them all the way through both pregnancies and both babies were/are healthy and gorgeous.

Yes but only picked up during labour meaning I had an on the spot catheter. Not pleasant Sad so keep on top of yours and make sure you drink plenty throughout your pregnancy - I thought I was drinking enough but was also going to loo so much I was obviously just sending it back out!

I had this too. Was given pills even though I had no symptoms. I had gone in with what I knew was spd and left none the wiser due to language barrier (the staff who treated me appeared to struggle with language).

I guess pregnancy must hide symptoms of a uti

Womble1975 · 11/11/2014 09:33

Had them all through first pregnancy. Never had one before or since. Dd was a perfectly healthy 8lb. Now pregnant with number 2 and midwife has recommended yakult daily and touch wood nothing as yet.

senoritachiquita · 11/11/2014 09:53

I also had them throughout pregnancy with DD1 and was treated for them and she was completely fine. I did find I had to avoid synthetic underwear/tight clothes more than usual as everything seems to get a bit more moist down there during pregnancy which can exacerbate problems! It was hard to get cotton pregnancy tights but I found them online eventually.
